Do you want the f-bodys to get faster or get mired down by the limits of stock blocks?

I for one dont care what it is turbo V6, LS1, LT1, SBC.. WHATEVER as long as it keep stock suspension and sticks to our vision and goes fast. Who knows, maybe some day we will be sitting on this board praising someone for hitting 7.9x @ 178mph on a 10.5" tire.

No sand in my Vagina! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> I didn't mean anything by my reply.

It just seemed like sort of a competitive post, so I figured the engines should be on the same platform before being compared for competitive purposes.

I do agree though, any new breakthroughs in small block technology is good for the whole industry! I look forward to the results of SBC's in the future!!

I must say, Madman's SBC is one freakin crazy lookin engine!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

New to the board,

My question is WHY do you limit yourself to stock suspension?
Is there some kind of rule that outlaws 4-link and ladder bars with f-bodies.

1000+ HP engines and stock suspension? Can someone help out here?

TIA

Cann

Newbird: Madman was not in complete control of "The Bird" and could not do what it takes to get into the 8's...the actual owner of The Bird wanted a lot of stuff left in the car that kept it's weight that of a pig and he didn't have complete control of what engine componets went in...with all that he still was able to tune the chassis to get the best 60's from any stock style suspension. Hell, Baxter and the other big timers never could best his time of of 9.17 cause there traction sucked ***** until they finally had Brian get the suspension right and BAM...everyone gets faster.
I myself know what this car is capable of cause I've seen this beast go from concept to what it is now and trust me 8's this weekend are all but in the bag.
And remember this...EVERY SUSPENSION COMPONENT IS IN STOCK LOCATION...nothing has been moved in like ARE's car...their setup is great and Hats off to'em but to get it done like Brian is, is truly an accomplishment.

MattG: Your right that it's a Tricked out SBC...it's a 409cid Dart block filled with LA Ent. Billet crank, GRP rods, JE High Comp N20 pistons capped by a set of GTP Messaged Brodix 15deg heads, custom intake converted to FI by Brian, an NOS TB Modified by Divinci, NOS Annular discharge plate. Static Compression comes to a lil over 14:1 compression. The reason Brian went this route instead of beating on the weak LS1 block is because he's not interested in pushing the limits of the motor as much as pushing the limits of the Suspension. He's trying to break and set every record for a stock style suspension car. He's trying to see just how much HP a torque arm will take.
Make a lil betta sense now?

CANN: The reason all the fuss over stock style car is that 90% of the racers out there aren't running a back halved ladder bar car...we all know what those are capable of...Brian makes his living selling damn near indestructable stock style suspension peices that work...to the tune of 9 of the 10 fastest 4th gens run his Torque Arm.

Chris: It's just fun and games...no other stock style 4th gen can even come close to ARE and Madman so we're just givin those guys a hard time...we do wish they'd come so we could take home the $$ pot tho... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Dang...I think this is the longest post I've ever written on here...I needa beer now. <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" />

Well said Josey. There are no hard feelings with ARE. Those guys beat me to the 8s. I am just trying to GOAD them into a race. I dont care about the motor. ARE builds motors, I BUILD SUSPENSIONS. I trying to find the limit of the Torque arm. Next year I have a 100mm turbo motor going in that should make 1800hp.

I don't see the big deal with the ARE suspension. Its not that much differnt just moved it a bit. My axles are also shortened 3.5" on each side to pull the tires in. My shocks are moved slightly in and even the LCA's a tad. It might not be as much as the ARE car cause I haven't seen it in person but is this really considered different? They might be running coil overs in the rear too though...Excuse my ignorance someone please just elaborate on the setup in some detail.

Hi Derek, our car doesn't have coil-overs. It has Hal shocks and springs in the stock locations.

I could take any suspension piece, shock, springs, torque arm, lower control arm and Bolt it on to ANY F-body out there! We are only getting 1.37 or 1.39 60's with the car, we still need to tune it in...
