Default G5X2 on stock everything

Just curious if anyone was running a G5X2 cam on stock everything (suspension, gears, heads, tires, ls1 intake, throttlebody etc.)? My best 60ft is a 2.18 and I am only trapping a 110.99, best time is a 12.87. I have a M6 and the clutch is starting to slip a little, I also have Pacesetter LT's. Is anyone else running as stock as I am with a G5X2 and if so what are your times? How much would you guess a non slipping clutch, ls6 intake, ported TB and better 60ft would help? I am just curious if it is the lack of supporting equipment for the cam that is hurting or if my tuning is way off. I have no knock and 29 deg of timing at WOT, ltft's are at 0, if that helps. Thanks alot for any info or help you can give.

For not having any performance parts to compliment that cam i would say your times aren't that bed. Now after a 12 bolt, gears (at least 4.30's), clutch, sticky tires, and full suspension you would prpbably be doing a lot better.

Thanks for the input. I am just a little disappointed. I expected to be doing a little better than that. My trap speeds seem REALLY slow. I have my rev limiter set at 6600. I have been reading and it seems that may be a little low. I have to shift into 4th right at the finish line or I hit the limiter. I guess I need to start saving some money. I know the intake and TB are a restriction, and I know my 60fts suck, I just wish my clutch wasn't slipping so I could see just how much of a difference they will make. Thanks again

you HAVE to shift that cam higher, you will grab a few tenths and few mph just from that. if you still have stock gears the other reason to get that limiter up besides shift points is you want to cross the traps in 3rd. trying to grab 4th right before the lights will hurt your mph.

Thanks for the advice. What do you suggest as a good shift point for that cam? What should I set the rev limiter at to stay "safe". Thanks again for the advice and keep it coming.

Learning how to really drive the car off the line can really increase MPH and drop ET.You need at least nittos and a good clutch that will not slip in high gear.2.1X 60's will not work.I was afraid to break the 10 bolt so was easy with the nittos and barely broke a 12.9@109 with 2.0 60'.I started driving the car more aggressive and started dropping the ET down to the 12.5 area with over 112 and my Z06 clutch is not making it now either.Get some sort of stickey tire and LCAs,you have to hook the car first and foremost.I have a B1 in and I'm going for 11.9,good luck.

Hmm, sounds just like me same cam, same car, same year and I ran almost the exact same time 12.86@ 110.69 w/ 4.10 gears in a stock rear. I smoked my CenterForce clutch last night so its slipping now, I'm happy to be rid of it now

Guinness2,
Did you expect more? Do you feel that your times are slow and mph way low? I was thinking it was gears, I still have the stock 3.23's but from your info that is probably not it. What do you have your rev limit set at? What kind of 60fts are you cutting? I ran last weekend and ran the exact same time as you 12.86 @ 110.73. I ran a 13.0xx @ 111 the next run though.
Have you dynoed your car yet? I am getting sick of seeing stock cars running the same or better than me. What are your thoughts of why your car is not perfoming to par? I just want to know where to start looking.
Thanks and hopefully we will get our cars figured out and start putting down better numbers

Yeah, I expected a little more but thats what I get for not having all the stuff I should have for this setup. I was running in some shitty air, with an exhaust leak and my tune is not correct yet.I made like 11 runs that day progressively getting slower.I will get a spec clutch,ls6 intake,Dyno tune next week and let you know how things work out.

My best with that cam when i had stock everthing was 12.7 @ 109 on a good preped track. I think my 60' was a 1.98. That cam needs to go high my rev is at 6800 and the dyno started to drop off hp at 6500. I shift at 6600.
