First run in friends 02 SS Got to drive an LS1 for the first time Wens. night. At the track no less.. A finally talked my co-worker in to bringing his 02 SS to the track. He has never run anything at the track before and his first run was a 13.67@102. All he has done to it is SLP lid&filter and nittos that I recomended that he install before he went to the track or street race anyone. I asked what tire pressure he had in them for the first run. 28 psi. he said. So I lowered it to 19#s then he ran it again. 13.56@102.4mph. Then he asked me if I wanted to drive it to see what I could get out of it. Keep in mind,I have never driven his car before nor have I even driven a LS1 at all. Weird, because I have been wanting one for a couple of years now. Anyway, I did a small burnout, prestaged, brought the RPMs up to 1200{probably should of went higher but.....didn't know what the car or tires could handle}staged, left on 3rd yellow[.524 light] 13.46@103.4mph. My friend was impressed as so was I. These cars rip. It has definitly sealed the deal. I will be gettin 1 soon. My ?, though is ,are these numbers right for a basically stock SS a4. Given more seat time, I am sure I could have done better but elim. started. Didn't get to drive it again. BTW, my 60ft was 2.07. SSL

Re: First run in friends 02 SS Those numbers are right on. My first run bone stock was a 13.67@103 or 104, I don't recall. Your 2.07 60' is great considering you were on street tires and you've never launched an LS1 before.
A lid and catback, along with free mods, got me to a 13.0@106 which is where I'm at now. I have a NX 100 shot kit going on soon though. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

Re: First run in friends 02 SS Yea, I think I could have launched at a higher stall but didn't want to break the tires loose. If the guy would give me a whole night at the track with it....I think I could get that time done even further.

He averaged 104-106 trap speeds, and his lowest e.t. was a 13.5xx@99mph (with a 2.10 60', plus he grinded 4th which explains the 99mph), but his highest mph was on a 13.6x@107mph. Average 60' was 2.2. I almost want to say he got a 108mph, but I can't remember for sure. Average mph over 8 runs was 106!
The car is bone stock (except FRA) and still had the spare tire and jack in it. Traction was an issue because his tires (Yokohama 420s?) were going up in smoke (like burnout quality smoke) almost each time.
I was very impressed with the trap speeds and his 13.5 e.t. consider the high 60' times. Stickier tires and perfect shifting should put him in the 12s wouldn't ya think? Maybe an iced intake?

car. I've got an SLP edition 02 SS A4 w/ Wisper Lid,
K&N filter, Cat-Back System, Dual Center Mount Exhaust
and I pulled out a 13.28@ 104 w/ a 1.890 60' and
this times were done on the STOCK Goodyear F1 GS
tires 275/40/17's, and with ALL the hardware still
in the car(spare tire, jack, floor mats, etc.)
I've just become an LS1 owner myself, and am finding
it easy to appreciate and adapt to the LS1 engine. I do have the full 345 HP SLP option.
