I made my own light weight seat using the stock seat and cross drilled metal stock for mounts. It weighs ~24# with the bracket, and looks/feels like stock.

I had the Jeg's molded seats in my car for the longest time, but I'm installing a Kirkey aluminum seat right now (that has been lightened up a bit as well). The Kirkey, even without modification, is a little lighter than the molded plastic seat. I haven't put them both on a scale, so I can't say for sure how much difference there is.

The Kirkey seat is tons nicer, though. Either one is a pain to install, as there is a good bit of fabrication work needed. The Kirkey seems a little more difficult because of its overall larger size.

I may be finished tomorrow and might post a pic of two...

George, what kirkey seat are you using? Pro Street or economy?
I am going with the pro streets soon.
Pics of the install would be great!
My stock 98 TA seats weigh 89lbs as a pair.

Here are some pics... I only have a driver's seat in the car right now, as I haven't felt the need to spend ~$200 for a passenger seat yet, since I never have any passengers.

That looks real nice.
How comfortable is the seat compared to the old plastic ones?
Looks like you used the floor mount brackets.
Simple to install?
Thanks
Steve

The Kirkey seat is pretty comfortable, but would be more comfortable if I had laid it back a tad more. I have it fairly upright since I don't spend much time in it except for racing, and I think it's better to sit more upright when driving the car down the track.

The brackets are bolt on brackets made by IO Port Racing and are adjustable (incline and forward/backward), but you have to actually unbolt the seat from the floor to move it forward or back.

I wouldn't go as far as calling the install simple, as you either have to weld mounting studs to the floor for the brackets, or drill holes to use bolts (careful of those fuel lines ). I drilled holes, and made my own studs, so I can just take the nuts off and lift the seat right out. My old plastic seats were bolted in with 5/16" bolts/nuts, and were a PITA to remove.

George,
Where did you get the mounting bracket, is it adjustable?
