Re: Just switched my 4.10s out for 3.23s!
I'm running out of gear with the 4.10s, and I want to try out a TH350 friendly gear set. If I can still run a 1.4x 60' with the 3.23s I'll have no reservations keeping them with a TH350. Otherwise I need to rethink my upcoming tranny swap. When I first swapped from 3.23s->4.10s (back when I had a stock shortblock) I went from 11.61 to 11.57, and picked up 2-3mph.

For Reference: LT1 car, picked up .18 in the 1/4 going from 3.23 to 3.73s, no more MPH. Was it worth it...verdict still out but the TH350 pulls hard with the 3.73!!!
No new times with new head work and TH350. I hope to have some 1/8th mile times soon.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA
Typical Terry Bugger crawfishing. You go around calling everybody that has a Th350/400 a ghetto car then you do it yourself!!!!! Same thing with the gutted car thing. Everybody was a dumbass for doing it then you were right behind them doing it. Face it Terry you aren't a leader, you are a follower as you always will be.
BTW, 3.73's work good with a Th350/400.
ATI will build a convertor with the LS1 flexplate pattern. GM sells the 2 parts you need for the speedo thing for ~$150.00.
Terry you are a legend in your own mind.

Terry dont skimp on the transbrake with those 3.23 gears. The T-brake will definitely help off the line with 3.23's in the back. Also get the 2.75 first as well. I think it should cook along pretty good. I didnt think lockup was that expensive either?

I've been racing 4th gens since '95 and I've done EVERYTHING you can think of. I've left some cars full weight, I've gutted some. I've left some stock trannies, I've switch to 3spds. I've left stock rear ends, switched to ford 9"s. I think gutting your car is ghetto, I think switching to a 3spd tranny is ghetto, and I think running a ford 9" is ghetto. With my 2001 Z28 I'm trying to do things a little different. The car is gutted stealthily (I.E. looks stock to most people), if I switch to a 3spd its going to be done stealthily (IE stock shifter, driveshaft, and gearing so I can actually DRIVE the car). I like having the 2001 setup as a "stock" looking car, and I plan to stick with that theme.
On the other hand I also think winning races is more important than not looking ghetto. Are you going to be competitive in the spring shootout? I'd love to me the one to put your ghetto POS on its trailer.

ALL of your cars are/have been ghetto. Quit trying to make it sound like your not crawfishing on your past statements.
Hell my 3spd, FULL weight car looks stock down to the stock silver rims and stock exhaust tips.
As far as me and you racing,,,,, bring it on!!!!!!!!!
Tim(driving ghetto fabulous)

Re: Just switched my 4.10s out for 3.23s!
As usual my results were somewhat inconclusive.
Since last time out I changed:
229 114ls->242/236 110ls cam
Removed 80# (~3240 raceweight)
4.10s -> 3.23s
My best before the above changes was 6.72 @101 1.46 60'. Tonight the track was packed and I only got two passes, the best of which was 6.91@101 1.61 60'.
One problem with the car is that I haven't dyno tuned the new camshaft yet, and I can feel its really soft around 3800-4200rpm (my launching RPM). Another problem is that I while my TCI3800 was perfect for 4.10s its too tight for the 3.23s. A third minor issue is I am going through the 1/8th mile traps on the 7200rpm rev limiter in 2nd (my power dies off @6800rpm).
The next thing I'm going to do is swap over to a 2.75 1st gear TH350 with ~4400rpm stall, then I'll take the car back to MMS and have them redyno tune everything. I'm still pretty confident I'll be able to run in the low 6.60s with the stock 3.23 rear when I get the stall/tuning issues sorted out.

Man spend the extra cash and get the converter with lockup it will be worth it on the street
I think more stall will help you for sure.
Good luck
Chris
