Default Goals and Projects for next year???

So......

What's everybody got planned for next season? Not all of us are lucky enough to NOT get snow <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> So the teardown begins.

Now that i got a new trans in the truck I can stop daily driving the car <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

so far here's my list....

</font><ol type="1">[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">8 to 10 point cage coversion and window net</font></li>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Install spool to replace busted posi</font></li>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Sheetmetal intake</font></li>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">order my th400 for when the T56 breaks, and it will <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /></font></li>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">further weight reduction: !air bags, !heater, !power steering, !power brakes, light weight rear brakes, maybe carpet (I'm keeping the radio though <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> )</font></li>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Order the manual rack from MADMAN <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /></font></li>[/list=a]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I'm sure i missed some little stuff, but that's alot to do by March 9 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

then more of this in pursuit of 8's.....

You and I both need to drop some raceweight. I'd like to be at 3400 lbs, but without sacrificing comfort or appearance.

-New engine (not sure what setup or size)
-Paint car Admiral Blue
-Some fancy brake rotors
-Nitrous?
-Another pair of 10" Draglites with 27" DOT Hoosiers

I'd like a 9-second *capable* car on nitrous, but by no means wish to install a 10-point cage or go thru all the extra safety requirements and NHRA license junk. Mid-Low 10s on motor is just fine for me as long as this is a street car.

Default Re: Goals and Projects for next year???

I am tossing around some ideas but primarily Thinking about the following...

Replace my bent wheelstuds with 1/2 inch studs in the rear and new lugs all around.

Finally install my race seat for track only use (~12 pounds)

15x7.5 Convo Pro's with 26x8.5x15 ET drags (~30 pounds lighter)

Lightweight Bolton hood (VFN WS6 most likely) (~25-30 pounds lighter)

New billet flywheel, mine is pretty beat up now.

Some other minor weight ****.

I have tossed around going more extreme with the car:
BIG solid roller, TNT 150 shot... <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

Or even going more streetable by reinstalling my AC, put in a posi and a smaller 222/222 XE-R 114LSA -2 degrees retarded cam. (Emissions legal, 800rpm idle and still capable of 11.2's@121mph)

My final goal is to have the car run 10.9-11.0s@~123mph on motor in race trim (back half of interior out) and around 11.1-11.2@121 with full interior in the car.

It will be interesting to see how the car runs with full interior I am betting I'll only slow down a tenth if that. It'll sure make prepping the car for raceday easier LOL <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Cheers,
Chris

Holley intake (got a great deal on a used one!)
Ported TB
New powerwindow motor <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
LS1Edit to finally tune
Maybe T56 rebuild
Hopefully some 4.88's these 4.56's just don't cut it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Some weight reduction but nothing extereme.

Goals, are to run very low 12's at Bandimere (5800' altitude)

Run mid 11's at Springbreak shootout.

But most of all to have fun and finally get another full season of racing in! Last two have not been good between breaking parts and waiting for parts to show up <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

My goals are:

1. To finially get my car running after all this time. I should be up and running Feb 1 + or - 2003.

2. When I get it running I will install a light weight hood. That will be all for the mods till the following year <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> $$$$ <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> . Except for a little lightening up <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

3. Run 9's on motor. That would be nice <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

5 pt Roll cage

Removing that damn 6" spoiler that slows my **** down!! <img border="0" alt="[fight]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_punch.gif" />

Figure out why the hell my o2 sensors don't heat up enough <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> ...trying header wrap to heat em up more

4.30 or 4.56 <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" /> gears

Steel flywheel back in place of the aluminum one

Lots of weight reduction: Lightweight carpet and ! insulation being done in the coming weeks to offset roll cage weight

Other weight reduction I'm considering:

K-member/A-arm,
drag wheels & skinnies,
carbon fiber hood
racing seats
smaller battery (have optima yellow top @ 43lbs)
Hal Shocks
Be Cool radiator
Electric water pump
Polycarbonate windows

Eventual goal is 10's all motor even up where I live.

Hopefully get the tranny back in my truck and see fi I can get @$5200 for it. If so I will get the basics:
-Currie 9+ rear with 3.89 gears(Haven't decided on posi/locker) and 30 or 33 spline axles.
-Clutch(Probably a RAM like Harlan has, or maybe one of the McLeods).
-Pro 5.0 Power Tower shifter.
-BMR Tubular sub-frames.
-Spohn adj. LCAs and adj. Torque Arm.
-Dynatech 1.75" headers.
-Dr. Gas 3" in and 2.5" out X-pipe and Flowmaster 10-Series DeltaForce mufflers(6.25"long).
That should eat all of that $5200.
Start saving for some Drag Radials.
Dump another 200 lbs at the track.
Goal: low 12s on Drag Radials. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
<img border="0" alt="[Firebird]" title="" src="graemlins/formula.gif" />

I'm kicking around a bunch of ideas right now...
Cam(for sure)but maybe-heads and cam
(push rods,oil pump,dual chain,30#injectors,LS1 edit)
Redoing the exhaust(dual bullets w/turndowns)to offset cage weight.
nitrous
moly cage
torque strap
remounting the coils
lightweight carpet

I do know this for sure-
more records will be broken.
high 10's to low 10's.(possible 9's on a 200 shot) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
