Allan, congrats on the new time.

About your 4th gear issue, if it's popping out as your letting the clutch up it's likely the 3-4 shift fork tabs that are busted up. It will still shift into 4th, but under load it simply pops out. Anyway, I took my trans over to D&D Performance in Detroit (http://www.ddperformance.com/). They did a quick rebuild and put in a steel shift fork instead. They turned it around for me in two days and I was on my way again. Just a thought!

I forgot who carries it but there is a hardened 3-4 shift fork with better pads. Part was only $60 I believe.

My total rebuild including a new 2nd gear and synchro, synchro rebuild kit, shift fork and labor was only $800. Needless to say I fragged a few parts. Some of them didn't really need to be replaced but we did it because we were already in there. Net result, before I could manually move the shifter linkage in the trans. Afterwards (and to this day) I couldn't move the shifter linkage by hand and now the shifts are very firm and solid (more so than when the car was new).

I think D&D sells the T56 service manual if you want to do it yourself. I also think that MTI does T56 rebuilds as well.
