12s possible with stock Z28 with 6spd.?
I know it is,Can you guys post some times of you cars stock. I belong to a thirdgen website and we are in the arguement between the 03' cobra and the LS1 f-body. I told them that a stock Z28 could run 12s with a good driver on a good day, thay said no way can a stock LS1 run high 12s so I told them to come here and thay can see for themselves that a stock LS1 can run 12s. thanks for the help guys, My dad has a 01' Z28 that runs 11.30 he has heads,cam,12bolt, and bolt ons. I want an LS1 but don't have the funds for one yet but soon I will own my Iroc-Z and LS1 F-Body, once again thanks for the help guys.

I can tell you I personally saw a time slip this weekend in Hattiesburg, MS on a 02 SS M6 all SLP options including lid...ABSOLUTELY BONE STOCK AS FROM SLP ran 12.75@110 witha 1.9xx 60'. the weather wasn't the best neither was the track prep. it was good but not great. My car was nearly 1 mph off on the same day.

Tell them to look no further than their own Mustang 'guru' Evan Smith, he's rowed a bone stock '99 Z28 to a 12.89 AND a bone stock loaded '01 SS with a full tank of gas to a 12.96 IN 90 DEGREE SUMMER HEAT AND HUMIDITY!
Also 'Fireturd' ('zturd' on this board I think) ran his '98 6 speed Z28 to a 12.88, stock right down to a dirty paper air filter.

98-00s -> Possible
01-02s -> Likely
A local friend of mine went 12.80s at 110 bone stock with the filter removed. '01 WS6 M6 Chime in Jlee

Was this on thirdgen.org? If so, show me the link, I'll respond (I'm a member). I know a guy who went 12.4 with just a lid and cutout ... worse part yet, it was done here (not even at a sea level track) in Ca. Known for not having the best tracks.

I think my lid & catback A4 '00 Z28 running 13.0@107mph is pretty solid. I know that's not bone stock, but it's not too far off.

i have only installed 4.10 gears and BFG DR and got 12.80. no free mods or anything else done to the car. also it only had 2300 miles on it at the time. i dont worry about the new 03 mustang cobra because ford needs a blower to get there cars that fast. this is not impressive at all. NA the LS1 is a full second faster. if you add a charger or even the cheapest N2O system an LS1 will do 11s. now thats impressive. with a mustang you need a blower and N2O or you will have to modify the stock blower for tons of extra psi to run 11s. i think that sux. with the same mods, a LS1 will always stay ahead. and to make it even more impressive, we only use one camshaft not four. this also makes it much more cheaper and easyer to mod.

looks like you got a fast one but i will still race you anyways. i dont hate mustangs ,in fact i have 4 of them in my car club, but it is just a fact that an LS1 is faster. your car looks like it is the fastest 4.6 car NA and it runs mid 11s with bolt ons witch is awsome but LS1 cars have already gone into the 10s with bolt ons and only one camshaft not four. this is just more impressive. also compare 11 second bolt on LS1s to 11 second bolt on 4.6 cobras.

Hi John. I saw that...most impressive.
However, I'm kind of under the impression that the "one cam" remark was in reference to the DOHC having four cams vice only one in LS1. I read his remark as meaning "bolt-ons" only - not a cam swap.
I'll digress if you add the cam swap.
