Default Quest for 11's with current setup?

I was wondering where I stood with ny current mods and the times my car has seen so far.

02 SOM SS A4 HT:
The car came with the 345HP pkg, and therefore has the SLP Dual Dual catback. Gears are 3.23's

Mods:
!FRA/TransGo/bellow/D-Flo/K&N/Bassani ORY/cutout/TR55

Weight reduction:
No spare or jack/no sway bar

I weigh 240 so add this to a typical SS for raceweight.

Dyno:
337/357 cutout open.

Best ET: 12/21/02...60 deg...DA+1800 Tulsa International Raceway

60'........1.9225
330'.......5.3720
1/8........8.1744
1/8 MPH....87.53
1000.......10.5682
1/4........12.6251
1/4 MPH....110.02

This was done with...skinnies/short belt/BFG DR..however I've cut 1.92 60's on F1's as well.

Point:
I have been offered an oppertunity to try a fresh Yank PT4400 and some Hoosier slicks in an attempt for hopefully 11.9's in this current setup.

How would this rank as far as some of the other 11 sec A4's with the relatively obvious lack of mods and weight reduction?

11.9's:
above mentioned weight reduction only/full leather interior including back seats/no headers or customizing of stock manifolds/no underdrive pulley's/no programming of any kind including HPP3/no MAF or mod inc. descreening/no TB or mod inc. port-polish or bypass/no removal of the catback

Yell me what you think...
Kurt

You will get high 11s with a high 1.5-low 1.6 60ft IMO. Good luck amigo! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Thanks for the reply...I know your car is all there man. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Thanks for the support George "Loco". I'm confident it will go 11's the way it sits, I just wonder on this board where that puts me, and in what class. I have been trying to find other cars with this amount of limited mods and weight reduction to compare to, but as of yet haven't. Miah is a moderator on this site, and he is also trying to find out how many have done it. We'll see.

Kurt: My car is a twin to yours.--'02 A4 SOM SS, blk lea., T-tops, no ASR, 345 hp w/dual-dual. I've added: HPP3, FTRA, ASP crankpulley w/shortbelt mod, SLP boxed lca's w/rt side airbag, Metco driveshaft loop, Centerline Convo-Pro 15" skinnies front & 15x7.5 rears w/ 26-8.5x15 ET Drags rear. Raceweight w/me & less than 1/4 tank fuel, less spare & jack w/swaybar intact, but disconnected links = 3540 lbs. I weigh 190 lbs. I run consistent low 12.8's, 1.92 sixtys, @ 108+ mph. That's at a sea-level track in New England, in 60 degree weather and good air. My car has about 1500 mi. on it, and ran 13.1's w/ 17" Nitto's and nothing else w/ 250 mi. on odometer. I have stock exhaust, no cut-out w/stock converter. Will be adding LG Motorsports 2&3/4" Y-pipe & Yank SS 3600, or 3800 converter for spring. Hope this helps you comparing...Your car goes real good. You will experience torque management problems w/the 4400 Yank, I'm sure. Diablo, or LS-1 edit will fix it. Get back & best wishes. BTW, I'm shooting for 12.0's w/my setup, with cats, and 2 cutouts welded into the LG y-pipe, and the new converter. Again, hope this helps you out. Reply, or shoot me e-mail. <img border="0" alt="[burn out]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_burnout.gif" /> WJ.

Kurt I can easily see you hitting 11's with that set up. Just be sure you do it on a Sunday or something so I can be there to see it. No more saturday runs while I'm at work <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
I'll help if y'want, I weigh a whopping 165 and am sure with a few passes I could get the hang of your car, even WITH the verter <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

The Bassani did slip right into the Dual Dual w/o any problems. I got a deal and a half on it, and so I bought it used for 2 hours. I manage a repair shop, and a customer bought it and a pair of sims to go with a Loudmouth cat back, and couldn;t take it after driving around for a few hours. He came back and said...it's just too loud...I'll sell you the Y and the sims for $175 if you will reinstall my factory Y for a good deal. Retail on the Y by itself is like $260 from Thunder Racing. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Would a 110 mph A4 car be in the 11's? I would think you need a few extra mph out of the car. How much weight do you plan to remove? Good luck with the shot at 11's. I can tell you that at least one part on your car has already gone faster than your best et so far. Maybe that will give you some luck.

Travis: I knew it was you or Nate...thanks for the offer. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

CRASH 02: How fast has that uninstalled but nicely polished 160 Hypertech gone so far? If it's faster than 11.98, I need to put it on right away, since I went that fast when I had the bottle on F1's w/lid and filter only. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Thanks for the vote of confidence....we both know your Ram Air will go 11's if you put a slick on it. I was looking at your sig on TFCC, and your dyno #'s are very nice. <img border="0" alt="[worship]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

I should pick up a few MPH with a 1.60 60 and the verter staying fat in the HP band. We'll see though. If it will go to 111-112...I will own an 11.9999999 lol.

Thanks,
Kurt

All you need is a Converter.

My biggest concern was the TM and the 3.23's allowing it to low 1.6 60. I guess you feel it's feasable. BTW....nice times man...weather you guy's know it or not, alot of us aspire to those kind of times and numbers, and seeing sigs and setup's from alot of you guys make it seam a little more reasonable to believe.

ps..have you seem many cars run this number with the same mods or lack of and weight as this. By no means do I think I'm off the hook, but more wanted to know how excited to get....or not.

I would have to say TM will be a problem after a converter install. After my st3500 was in the car it fell flat on its face between shifts. After some programing it was good to go.323s will be perfect for 1.60s and even some high 1.5s.I have a couple more mods but still managed 1.5s with 273s. Good luck Jim.

Welp....to everyone who said it would be hard to get a 11.99 on my current set up with the addition of a Yank 4500 and some slicks......

You where right.
DA....+1200
Race Weight...3650 est
Best #s
60'....1.60
1/8....7.62
1/4....12.17
1/4 MPH....110.85

TM and DA was the killer in my attempt. I never thought it would fall on it's face as hard as it did between shifts...esp on the 2-3.

I know for a fact it will do an 11.99 or better like it sits, but it will require the magical DA #'s to make it happen.

However...I am not waiting for any longer. My next mod is gonna be the 02 Z06 Cam and programming from Ed Wright. I am not a huge fan of Ed, even though he is in Tulsa where I live, but I feel the need for more programming than LS1 Edit or the like can produce.
IE...Match trans line pressure with TPS/deleted rear 02's/deleted TM/ect.

Thanks for the votes of confidence...may see some of you all at the SLP CAD at Ennis, TX on the 15th of Feb.

Getting into the 11's with stock heads and cam is relatively easy. You've got the converter, and by the sound of things some better/colder air might just get you over the hump.

I didn't take the time to read all of the posts, but here is a list of things that should put you in the 11.6 to 11.9 range.

Ported throttle body, throttle stop mod, ASP pulley, FTRA, headers, cutout, short belt, 160 deg. thermostat, NGK TR-5 plugs gapped to .050", slicks or ET Streets, skinnies, right rear air bag, air lid, B&M 19,000 GVW tranny cooler, Hypertech programmer, and converter.

Also, remove as much weight as possible, and try to get behind a fat tired car with slicks at the track. Air up your front tires to their maximum limit.

Good luck in your quest for 11's. You'll get it before long.
