Default Weight Reduction Help

Ive read over the guide.. I need to know what else I can do. Im switching over to a glide so I will have the lightest tranny out there. The car itself has a Iron block, which is the only down fall. I have BMR Tube K-member, A-Arms, etc.. No front/rear bumper Supports, No Sound deadening in the car, 1 Corbeau Forza Seat, No spare and jack, Battery located in the trunk. When it comes to the Airbags is it easier to remove the stock steering wheel and replace it with another brand or is it easy to do that Billingsly Air Bag Simulator. Those are my next big things is getting rid of al that and the rest of my HVAC stuff. I would like to get the car down to the 3100 area without me in it. The car is a Non-T-Top, but has Power Window/Locks. Help me out here.

Chris

The billingsly simulator is just for cosmetic reasons. If you're not concerned about appearances, you can basically pull the fuse for your airbag system, then unbolt the driver side airbag to drop 5 pounds pretty easily.

The passenger side bag requires dash removal, which is a royal PITA the first time around if you've never done it before.

I haven't pulled a steering wheel before so someone else will have to comment on that.

Well , you dont have to remove the steering wheel to get the air bag out of it, there are 4 screws on the back of the steering wheel and the cover will come off leaving the air bag exposed . Its been a while since ive done mine but I think you will have to drill out 4 rivits which will then release the airbag housing from the steering wheel. What I did was reuse the plastic framing structure and got rid of all the heavy metal airbag pieces . The cover fits back over the plastic and bolts back to the steering wheel and looks like its never been touched. Doesnt sag either , thats the purpose for the plastic framing inside. If you get a chance stop by Icon Auto Sports and take a look at my car , Its the white SS ( Mike is my brother) He'll know whats up. Hope this helps !

Momo steering wheels will bolt right up with an adapter they sell. I replaced my wheel with a Momo one and it looks a lot cleaner as well as being lighter. A few screw hold the airbag cover on, them remove the nut holding the steering wheel on, You will probably need a puller for the wheel itself, I did. Check out a company called ltbmotorsport.com for wheels and the adapter.

You can gear the glide to compensate for your heavy car too.

If you want to do the pass airbag, I would do the A/C unit at the same time. U can also take the sound deading sheet off of the firewall. An aftermarket steering wheel is quite abit lighter then the stock leather one.

You need to get a Kirkey seat.
You can take your door bars out. This is kinda a pain but doesn't cost you any money.

I can tell you this. I have done quite abit of wieght reduction on my car and it takes alot to get it that light with a cast block in the car. U are going to probably need a pin on hood and a Chromoly roll cage (If you put one in at all)

Then you have to put heavy peices on the car to hold the power and 60fts.
Rear end,tranny,TA,Swaybar,SFC,Rollcage...............

I am 3300lbs without me in my car
I have tubular everything, with one seat in the car with a nitrous bottle next to me. Sound deading out, no power steering, no A/C, no bumper supports, no front sway bar, no door bars, no ABS, no TCS, no brackets on the front of the car.
I added a 9in, steel DS, Wolfe TA, BMR SFC&PHB&LCAs, Mild steel 6point cage, 6.0 block...... and so on.
