Default How Many Miles Do You Think You Average...

... in one year of towing your drag racing car or driving your drag racing car to and from the track and how much you spend on fuel specifically for drag racing?

I bet we'll have some interesting numbers in different geographic locations.

This last season I spent about $1,000.00 per month racing the Hot Rod. <img border="0" alt="[evil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

This was from April thur December. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" />

Gotta love being a full time bracket racer. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Well, just an average Saturday night bracket race at Gainesville will pan out something like this:

Fuel (tow vehicle): $12
Race entry: $35
Race fuel: $25 (will vary depending on time trial runs and how many rounds I get to).

So that's ~$72 for a night of bracket racing at what I consider my local track (45 minutes away). Obviously, a race farther away would be more gas for the truck, and have more misc. expenses that I haven't even mentioned, like food, drinks, etc...

...but I finally see that what you're really asking about is mileage. I guess I should learn to read a little better. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

It's ~45 miles each way to Gainesville Raceway, so it's a ~90 mile round trip. Last year I made 17 trips to Gainesville (and that was only from August-December). So that's a little over 1500 miles. I also went to the Thunder Shootout (1300 mile round trip), a GAFBA event (550 mile round trip), and went down to Orlando Speedworld a couple of times (300 mile round trip).

When I have a full year of racing, it's a good amount of mileage. Just for reference, I bought my 2000 Dodge Dakota (which is my tow vehicle) in July of 2000, and have ~48,000 miles on it (and only drive 8 miles to work every day).

I don't understand the question, you want to know how much we spend in gas if we tow?

I get 300 miles to the tank, ~$40 to fill up.

My local tracks are 50-80 miles from me, but my preferred track is GLD and it's 50 miles from me.

If I am understanding the question. I sometimes drive a 1,000 mile a weekend. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" />

Remember, I have been know to race at one track on Friday night then a different track on Saturday night and then on Sunday a totally different track all together. <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />

That would cost me about $100.00 in gas money to the track for the tow truck. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Guys you need to buy your race fuel by the 55 gallon drums. It is a whole lot cheaper. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Good luck this season. <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" />
