Default Need to get back in the game, what to do next?

Ok...I really need to get back in the game with my car. I feel like I havent done anything to it in such a long time even though I just installed a brand new Strange 12 bolt and Wolfe roll bar this week. Its always down waiting on parts to arrive to be installed. Within the last year, the car spent more time in the garage than on the street or strip. Im shooting for 10s w/stock heads/bottom end naturally aspirated and I havent added any go fast parts in who knows how long. The last go fast part was a Meziere electric water pump, which I doubt I picked up very much if any. Anyhow, here is a list of most of the things that Ive done to the car, I wanted to see what I could do next. Thanks.

Fast Toys ram air kit
K&N air filter
Texas Speed & Performance air lid
Granatelli MAF
SLP high flow bellow
Bauer Racing ported & polished throttle body
LS6 intake manifold
NGK TR-55s
Holley 9mm wires
Kooks 1 3/4" long tube headers
Custom 3" true duals w/Dynomax bullets dumped
ASP underdrive crank pulley
Meziere electric water pump
MTI C2 cam (224/.581/112) plan on changing cams, but dont know which one
Manley valvetrain kit
AMW oil catch can
Billingsley ABS delete
Century 200-4R w/all options
Yank SS4000 soon to swap over to a PT4400
TCI flexplate
Hal shocks in a 4 corners w/R series in front
Spohn-LCAs, PHB, TA, SFCs, & 25mm rear sway bar all in chromoly
BMR-K-member, upper & lower a-arms, & relocation brackets
Airlift airbag
Prothane motor mounts
Energy Suspension tranmission mount
Denny's nitrous ready driveshaft
Strange 12 bolt w/4.10
Bogarts-15x10/ET Drags 15x4/165R
Wolfe chromoly 6 point weld-in roll bar
Weight reduction

Those are the mods that I can think of, but I know that Im probably leaving a lot out. But that should give you a rough idea on what I have and what I could do next. Let me know because my quest for 10s with stock heads and bottom end continues. Thanks.

I havent had the car to the strip since May and many mods ago, so I dont have any recent times. My best was an 11.48 at 116 mph with a 1.62 60ft. I want to reach this goal without nitrous or forced induction. (naturally aspirated)

You're gonna need a bigger cam then that my friend. Also start researching the wonderful world of weight reduction!! Turn that bitch into a stripper. Most cars that go tens cam only are weighing in around ~3200-3300lbs. Whats your pig at?

Coach: I dont think the car has 10s in it, but I wanna have the best chance in doing so when I go back. In my opinion, Ill probably see 11.3s with the way it sits, hopefully 11.2s. I definately need to upgrade torque converters and I plan on going with a Yank PT4400. Other than that, a different cam which I dont know what to go with. From what Ive seen, the T-Rex and G5-X2 seem to be the top 2 cams. Other than those 2 mods, I need more suggestions.

SMOKIN01TA: I thought about changing the intake, but I dont know if I should spend the money for the FAST products, do the LS2 intake, or wait for the LS7 to come out. On the cam, the T-Rex is one of my choices, but havent made a final decision yet.

cyphur_traq: I know that a bigger cam is going needed. On weight, not sure where I stand, but I hope to be in the 3200 range. When I visit the track again, Ill be sure to weigh it. Ive removed quite a few things, not too much, but I dont want it to be a stripper.

I went 10.80's back in 2000 with a tiny (by today's standards) 220/224 .532/.535 114lsa Comp Cam. I honestly don't think you'll see tons of difference from a cam swap.

Concentrate on making all of the parts work perfectly together, not just trying to figure out what new doo-dad to bolt on to the car next. What kind of tuning has been done to the car?

GeorgeC: What was your setup back when you ran the 10.80s? Was that cam only, naturally aspirated, stock heads, stock bottom end, LS1 346? How do you make all the parts work together? The car had its last tune back in April of '03 by Jason at MTI. Wouldnt a bigger cam give me a better chance at a 10 sec. timeslip?

I'm not saying that a bigger/better cam wouldn't help with your goals, just that it's probably not the one piece of "magic" you're looking for.

My old setup then was a stock crank/stock rods 347 (different pistons), GTP 2.02/1.60 heads, Comp 220/224 cam, Dynatech headers, LS6 intake, 4.33 gears, TH350 tranny w/JW 4500 converter, and most of the bolt on goodies... I used to swap parts all the time (which gets old, and expensive), but it did allow me to do alot of experimenting with different combos in the car. There is alot to the converter and gearing setup, as well as shift points, and all the other fine details.

Just keep chipping away at it, and you'll get the combo dialed in.

Ohhh, I thought you ran those times cam only. Im trying to break into the 10s naturally aspirated, stock heads, completely stock bottom end, stock cubes, etc. with the acception of a cam. I was thinking something wasnt right because your name would of been on the cam only list.

Nope, I had GTP heads at the time (which I think were crap, but that's another story)...

My point was simply (and I wasn't trying to come off as a know it all or anything) that sometimes you just need to work with what you have and make small changes to net great results...
