Default Does it matter how far forward or backward the roll bar is welded in?

I just recent installed my chromoly weld-in 6 point Wolfe roll bar and had to turn around and cut it out because it was too far forward. Well, its out now and before I re-weld it in, I wanted to make sure that it doesnt have to be in a certain location. I decided to cut the bottom of the main hoop a few inches so that I could scoot it back and mount it to the hump. I did that so that I could have plenty of room. Also, it brings the slant in the side bars further back to make it easier to get in and out of the car. Just wanna be sure that it would be ok to weld it there. Thanks.

To help understand what hump Im talking about where I want to weld it, here's a picture from Wolfe's site of the main hoop welded to the floor. Mine was welded a couple of inches forward and now Ive cut mine so that I can move it back where the hump is, directly behind the bar. Obviously you can weld it too far forward, can you weld it too far back?

I am going through this now with my 10-point cage install. It needs to be a maximum of 6" from behind the helmet. It also needs to be a maximum of 5" above the helmet. This is according to the 2004 NHRA rules. So set your seat in first at a comfortable position, then welding the cage. Also, for the cross bar (behind the seat), for the harness, it needs to be within 4" below the driver shoulder, perpendicular to the spine/head angle.

So would I be ok to weld it to that hump I was referring to or is that too far back? Im 6'2", so my seat is going to be a little further back than usual. I guess thats above average. I dont want to go through this again because its a lot of work. I want to make sure that it goes in the right position because its not coming out again. Thanks.

I loaded a pic onto my web page for you. I couldn't post the pic for some reason. Anyway, I think this is what you are talking about. The pic is titled lower main hoop section. I am 6'2" also and my cage is NHRA teched and approved.

Good luck

Yes, thats exactly what Im talking about. I want to weld my main hoop in the spot you have yours. Im 6'2", so I need it further back than usual. My roll bar is only a 6 point, but I dont think the main hoop is any different. So Mine should be ok because my main hoop is going in the same place. Thanks a lot. I should be ok as well if you were.
