Default which brakes are lightest

hey guys..........

i was thinking about going with the Strange setup, but someone said that the Wilwood setup is lighter? is that right? also, i've heard from several users of the Strange that use them on the street, moderately though. anyone else have a better, lighter brake setup they also use on the street? how does anyone with aftermarket brakes like them when driving?

thanks,
Dave

I have the aerospace race kit, I has billet aluminium 4-piston calipers, drilled rotors with aluminium centers, and aluminium caliper brackets. Total weight was 12lbs per wheel.

I have about 3000 street miles with these brakes with no problems, and they stop great!

I have the Strage Brakes on the Front and rear, they are LIGHT, took almost 90 lbs off the car just by changing brakes, I think the big difference between the aerospance and the strange is that the strange uses a new aluminum hub, and the aerospace uses the stock Iron piece, remember its not just how much weight it took off the car, it is also rotating mass.

Are you talking front or rear, or both? You cant beat the bang for the buck with Areospace components. Ultimitely they are all excellent. I would go with the one with the best deal you can find. Just watch out which kit you buy. Thay have "race" kits and "street" kits. They are also based on weight of car. The ones for the heavier cars usually have vented rotors. I might still have a contact for Aerospace. Let me know and I will see if I can get better pricing. If you will do alot of street driving, I would try to stay with a vented rotor. They dissipitate heat better for constant heavy breaking. If your rich, I would go with a carbon fiber rotor. Lightest you can buy!

Lightest are the Strange and the Mark Williams. Aerospace are probably the best bang for the buck. Take care.

Strange here, very high quality, I believe they save 10-15lbs on the front and 5lbs on the back over aerospace. If you have the money get them. The big plus about them is you can bolt on any wheel you want i.e. Weld, Centerline and not have to grind your calipers. The same with the Aerospace race kit, however the Aerospace street kit will require some "massaging" to make any wheel fit.

The big bonus is Bogart makes a custom wheel for the strange brakes that save you another 10lbs overall.

Get the aerospace kit from Billingsly racing, they are a sponsor ---------------->

They also have all the fittings and lines you will need to connect them to factory brake line, if your still using them.

He's got them for $519 ftont race kit and 429 rear race kit.

Strange setup here..Billingsley highly recommended the Strange brakes because they were the most complete kit..I've had them on the car now for almost 2 months driving everyday and also trips to and from the track with "0" problems...

thanks,
Dave
