Default Light Weight Battery Problems

I have been using an HAWKER EP-13 battery that weighs 11 lbs for a few months now. It starts the car fine, but it causes the instruments to spike (after starting the engine all gauges go full scale high than zero than work normally; execpt the trip miles zero's out). I don't like that. It also does the same on my brothers car.
Does your battery do that?
What do recommend?

Sounds like it's close to going dead. Throw a charger on it.

WILWAXU, It has done this since I got it. It reads close to 13 volts. It start the same a with a full size battery. My brother has the same battery in his 98 Z28 and it does the same.

I have the same battery. I put in in the day I go to the track and take it out the day after and put back in my regular one.

You cant expect the battery to perform on a day-to-day basis, it is for drag racing! It just doesnt have the power.

I have the same battery in my '99 and it does the same exact thing. It has never failed to start the car, however.
