benefit of lightened ring gear, axle flanges...

is the rotating mass worth it? About $60-$70 to backcut the ring gear (about 4 lbs) and same for the flanges (2.5 lbs)

Wouldn't that increase the chances of breakage? My family has the rearend curse when it comes to keeping rearends together....
