mini-tub hints/how to's/pics??
I'm going to be undertaking the mini tub project very soon, anyone have any info on the project?
I'm thinking pretty much cut the factory tub out of the car, cut away some of the frame rail, and then try to fit some tubs back in there and tack weld them as good as possible, then finish it off with a little seam sealer and undercoating and call it good.
I don't have to go too far into the frame rail because I already fit the 29.5x10.5 tires, but I need to drop the car a couple inches out back.
Is there any structural integrity to be compromised by doing this?
How do the pro's go about it?

I had Kennedy Race Cars of Denver mini-tub the 2001 SS I sold earlier in the year and it turned-out to be one serious project, probably 100 hours.

a hundred hours i wouldn't think it'd be THAT involved!!! i plan on getting this done like NRC's car, if it's that red t/a? mini tub it just far enough to still run the factory interior panels back there, and you can't tell that it's been done.

Well, like most other things in life, there's mini-tubs and then there's mini-tubs. We did not relocate the LCA, and spent a lot of time getting the notching just right. I no longer own the car so photos are not available.
You could call Shaun at 303-781-7278. He did the work.

Go to Detroit Speed and Engineering. The are the nations top Camaro builder. The specialize in First Gens but with the talent they have on hand, it very easily transends to 4th Gens.
Run the name on Google to locate them. Just reading about their projects is a joy.
Best regards,
Rick.

After this weekend I'll be bringing ours to Madman for some minitubs very soon.
Brady just bring the car here and I'll stick it in the trailer with ours and bring it the rest of the way to Houston.

i've been to KTS in the last week myself, and can say he has some killer combos going together. TOP NOTCH!!!!! he's doing a Camaro right now as a matter of fact. made me drool big time, especially for the 4 link setup that it's gonna be equipped with. excellent, nothing but chromemoly, work that he does. Dave built the APE chassis, and got their vert' down to nearly 3000lbs!!! well worth the trip if you can get your car there.
