I wish I could drive...
2002 SS M6, h/c (tr224/112), headers, stock 10b 3.42's.
The real problem was the stock tires (Eagle F1 275's).
The car put down 395rwhp this summer.
The car wouldn't hook for **** and the wheel hop was pretty noticable.
I don't have the exact numbers with me, but here's the jist...
60' ... 2.3-2.4
1/8 ... 8.8
mph ... ~90
1/4 ... 13.2x
mph ... 112-113
So what et's should I have seen if the car had a more respectable launch?
1-tell me about your suspension
2-tell me about your launch technique.
3-is the car tuned?
4-any weight reduction?
5- stock clutch or aftermarket?
6-any details on the weather that day, D.A would be great if you have it.
I'm probably going to do some suspension work (lca's and Trq arm) to limit the wheel hop. It has the bilstein suspension from the factory(slp). When I get around to it, I'm going to get a 12bolt and a better clutch.
Car was tuned by Mike@rapid. There was some KR on *one* run, but otherwise the car ran like a champ. No weight reduction, stock clutch(ls6).
The weather was ~65 low humidity, partly cloudy. It was a track rental so I had plenty of runs to try and find the right launch method, but I just couldn't cut a better 60'. I tried low rpm quick clutch, slipping the clutch, nothing hooked except leaving at 1200rpms but then it bogged because of the gears. I just kept overpowering the track. If I tried to "walk" it off the line, I'd get wheel hop. If I held it at 2200rpms and slipped the clutch, the car would go sideways. We started with water in the box, so I would "shake" the tires a bit, but not do a real burnout. Then they stopped hosing down the left lane so I tried skipping the "burnout". That changed nothing. I tried doing two runs back to back figuring the tires were hot, nada. Once I got hooked ~45mph the car pulled great + shifting <6600. That's why I started wondering what the car would really do with some sticky tires and a rear/clutch combo that could take the abuse.
This was the Atco rental from last week that JS setup. There was another member there with basically the same car and we were the only two in the left lane. So the only difference was he dynoed ~20hp less, but had Nitto Extreme's. He had a best run of 12.18@~115. I thought it was amazing that tires could make that much of a difference. And he was complaining that his clutch was slipping to boot.
So do I have to get a "drag intended" tire to hook? or is there something I can get and still feel comfortable on the road...especially when I nail an offramp at 70mph.

next step suspension wise should be shocks/springs..stiff *** bilsteins will forever kill you even if you do everything else..car needs to transfer weight, bottom line.
