M6 Launch RPM

I've been trying to find out what I need to do to get into the 12's. It seems as though my car is making the power (trap speeds in the 106-108 range), but I've yet only run a 13.06. Now, I understand that getting my car into the 12's without drag radials or slicks is going to be tough, but I need to know what I can safely launch at without breaking the rear-end. I plan to get either Nitto's or M&H Musclecar Drags to attempt this.

Are the guys running 1.50-1.70 60 foot times all running 12-bolts? I know I'll likely need one eventually, but can I still rip some good times at higher RPM's? Right now, the highest I can launch at is 2,600-2,800 rpm without totally smoking the tires. The stock tires just break loose too easy.

What is everyone's suggestions to get me into the 12's?? Thanks!!!

you can put the car on a drag radial like a nitto and keep the 10 bolt together with prorper driving, sounds like that would get you where you want.

Well your ET is great for your MPH on a street tire. I agree with Silver, put on Nittos and drop er at 3500. That will surely put you in the 12s. I have launched at 4000 on Nittos so far without breaking my 10 bolt. But I am having launching issues now. The car bogs off the line mo matter what RPM I drop er at. My guess is TM.

I use nittos, finally learned to do a burn out, launch at 28-3000 rpms and my last run was like a 13.2 at 107.8 mph and a 2.1 60 ft. I am going to a track with better brep this weekend and plan on launching at 32 and 35 hundred rpms to give it a try and see if that will et me into the 12's.

I know from my dyno sheets that my power is really at like 6 thousand something rpms so it shift within that band. I will also trying shifting a little sooner, see how that goes. I lso tried leaving my foot on the gas half way while shifting and taht got me an 8.5 in the 1/8th at like 85 mph but it also didnt allow 4th to go in. I dunno i thought i would share some of the stuff i am doing.

bye,

Crystal

ps. the best i ever did on my street radials was a 13.4 at 109.67 mph. It was the 2nd time i'd ever run on the track. (But i only used em that one night then i srictly used my nittos at the track)

well ,bfg hooks better then a nitto tire but, nittos will last longer with street driving. i have the muscle car drag and they hook way hard. it's a great race tire and if you keep your launches at 3,500-4000 add a rear axle cover you should be fine and you will hit the 12's. also...if you remove weight off the nose you'll go faster. sample....i removed my air conditioner all of it, 36lbs air system 12lbs and front sway 14lbs it gained me 2 tenths in the 1/4th with no other mods. i hit the 10sec club this year 10.96 at 126mph. www.intercotire.com i was on m&h racemaster 26x11.5x16 cheeter slicks. goodluck to ya bro.
