Default ? on tech rule....

Ok, to pass tech for the tranny, you need an sfi approved flexplate, sfi flexplate shield, and sfi tranny cover. So my ? is, what's my best bet here? I have a TCI SFI flexplate, can grab the rci blanket, which would take care of the tranny cover, but i'm not sure if that takes care of flexplate shield, does it? If it doesn't, I don't know what to do for the flexplate shield. I had to cut a hole in my floor when I installed the tranny to get at the top bolts on the drivers side b/c I have solid motor mounts, and I think a flexplate shield would get in the way of me getting at the bolts. What do you guys think, and what do you guys use? Thanks for any help, cuz they really never check that stuff, so I don't have a problem passing tech, I just would like the piece of mind of knowing that I actually have it and will be protected, god forbid something were to go wrong, ya know!

Devon,

The blanket should cover you til 9.99. Just a PITA b/c it wraps completely around the tranny and you'll have to remove it every time you service the trans or try to access the pan.

You will still need a flexplate shield. This is the reason all my trnnys I sell come with an UtraBell. This covers the SFI rule for the flexplate sheild. Another option is the CSR carbonfiber shield.

Oh, cool, so then faster than 9.99 I would need a flexplate shield too? I think i'm going to do them both anyways, for the piece of mind factor, ya know! Cuz the blanket doesn't cover the bellhousing area, does it?

What about the casing, do they make like an ultra casing or something like that to go along with the ultra bell, so you don't have to get anything exterior? Are there any fitment issues with the CSR shield, what about the CSR supershield, any fitment issues with that, it would probably be lighter than the blanket especially since it wouldn't soak up fluids, cuz i'm assuming the blanket probably would soak up everything. One of my buddy's has the supershield and has solid motor mounts like me and told me I would have to drop the kmember, connect the tranny to the motor and then put it all back up together and that would be a pita!!!!! He said I wouldn't be able to get the bolts from the hole in my floor that I made cuz the shield would be in the way, what do you think? If I can get at 'em w/o problems, i'll just do the supershield. My other buddy said it shouldn't be a problem, so i'm thinkin bout it, just gotta get the money together and stop breakin ****, hehe!

I have a MADMAN TH400 w/ ultra bell so I added the CSR shield on my TH400 and had to clearance some spots on the passengers side floor pan so it wouldnt hit. on the drivers side i re-bent the stock fuel lines a little so they wouldnt rub on the shield other than that its a pretty good fit.

Aight, good info, thanks. Anyone with experience with the entire supershield or just the flexplate shield?

I personnaly like the blanket because I have had oil leaks before and the blanket soaks them up so there was no oil on the track.

Yeah, that's kind of why I didn't want it, I have like the tiniest tranny leak that I can't find, so I didn't want it soakin it up and weighing me down, hehe! I actually think it's blowin a little bit of fluid out of the vent tube thingy on the tranny at high rpm in high gear from too much pressure or something, but i'm not sure. It doesn't seem to happen at the track, and I never have any puddles or drips or anything under the car, just for some reason, everything in the area under that vent tube thing has tranny fluid on it. And i'm never low on fluid, at the same spot always! And the only time I see signs of it, is if i'm trying to do some wot data logging on the highway and I take it over like 6100 rpm or so in third on motor (I run it through third to make sure I get enough frames to get a good reading on the o2's so I can tune my wot) I get a cloud of smoke coming out from under the car that goes away as soon as I let off. But like I said, never happens at the track and hasn't happened on spray while wot data logging on the highway, weird ****!!!!
