Default Advice on gear vs. combo selection please..

Ok, running through every calculator I could find I come up with 3.50 gears will put me where I need to be, 9's.

Combo is forged 347 11.1:1cr, cam grind by EDC for 200-300 shots of Nitrous should make around 425rwhp NA, and add in 200hp of juice. Running 3.50 gears with 26" tire comes out to enough to put me in well into the 9's and leaves room for 100hp more of spray. Cam power range is 3500-6500rpms, shift around 7000, and rev limiter at 7500, weight at 3350, Built 4L60E stock gearing 3.06/1.75/1.00, custom TC from Fuddle 3800 or so stall.

Am I way off here or what? Thanks for any input.

Yea, pick any gear you like cause you won't get to use it.. the 4L60E won't hold.

Well, the original 4L60E, granted with less power, lasted over a years worth of 600 track runs with over 60% of them on the bottle. It held up decent. Do I know I will end up swapping trans, yep, but gears can be closely matched with a TH200R4, 350 or 400.
I know just because other people get this or that to work, like the 4L60E in a 9sec car, doesnt mean I will have the same results. There are some 4L60Es running in that range.
I will shoot myself now though for asking this question. Thanks.

The problem is your spinning your 4L60E so high and the car is so heavy..

If you have more money then time, then it won't matter.. but if you want to save yourself time and money just put a better tranny in it now..

As of now, I have the time, not the money. Soon after returning from Afghanistan, will be moving to go to school (only 6mo) then off to some other place to live. Too many moves in too little time. I am planning on going to a Rossler, but figure I might enjoy a few runs with what it will have until then.
FWIW, I dont expect the trans to last at the track too long. I just need a couple runs in Hawaii trying to get quickest F bod/LS1 there and a back up run before I leave....down with Drew778 record of 10.81.

If you are looking for mid to high tens with a few passes then no big deal.. but if you are looking for 9's save yourself the time and order up a rossler.. I just did..

I'm looking for low 10's in my light *** heap and I knew a 4L60E wouldn't hold for that long.. Even though I could possibly go faster with the 4L60E I went with a TH350 to save myself both time and money in the long run.

Thats the same setup I am looking at. Does the Rossler come with the correct tailshaft housing and speedo setup, or will I need to get other stuff as well? And did you go for a NCRC TC or Rossler or what?

I ordered a TH350 with the 4L60E speedo provisions so I can use my factory speedo.

I went with an ATI 8" converter. I have yet to put either in the car.

I also went with the ultra bell housing on the rossler.. The TH350 with all the built parts and everything is cheaper than a built 4L60E.
