Launching with new converter.

Launching with new converter.
I recently put a Yank SS3600 in my TA. With 17" ET streets, what would be the best rpm to launch the car from to get the best times? I also have the Hal shocks which I used to set at 1 front, 3 rear. Should I stick with this or change it for the way the new converter will launch the car?

you'll just have the play around with your launch techniques to get the best performance out of it. if it would stall to ~3200 on the footbrake that would be killer, it should come outta the hole pretty well at that rpm. what other mods do you have.

I agree, my stall is of similar size and I have gotten the best results foot braking it to the 3,200rpm range. I also usually run the Hal at "1" in the front and "3-4" in the rear and the car seems to transfer wieght pretty good when I come out at about 3,200. It won't transfer any wieght flashing it from idle.

Wow, you can stall it up to 3200? Mine seems to want to pull forward at about 2000rpms. I may be able to hold it with the foot brake past that,
but probably not too far past that. I hope I'll be able to stall it up that high.
What should I be able to get it to on a foot brake? The car is a 96 TA, weight is 3400lbs with me in it. I have the LT4 Hot cam and exhaust. It puts out 380rwhp, 363rwtwq. I do not know what it dynos now with the converter though.

it's much harder to transfer the weight...err...well, not so much harder, but it doesn't happen as quick launching off idle as it does when you footbrake and preload the suspension. if you're making 380 to the wheels with your setup you're already doing great, that's a lot of power for that setup....the 3600 converter should stall to atleast 3200, making more power it should loosen up a bit. i'm not sure on how loose, or tight that line of verter is though. i had a PT4200 yank in my NA stock internal car and went low 11s quarter mile...

I just came back from a drive. I stalled it up to 2600 on the street
before it wanted to turn the tires. Will it be different with the ET
streets at the track then with the DR's I'm running on the street?
I am hoping to hit 11's at Ennis this Friday. I have hit 12.4 with the
current setup minus the converter.

Once you get to the track and play around with your stall speed you should get it figured out.

Sounds great. This Friday I will be at Ennis, but let me know next time you are
at Kenedale. My parents live a little south of there, so it is not too far for me.

i'll be there this friday for KOTH, if you get there early you can get several passes in before it gets insanely busy. i'd be glad to help, and maybe make a pass if you were down!! i have a set of 26" et streets on drag lites if you need slicks.
