Default tried some MT DRs tonight

I bought some MT DRs to try on my 3800# T/A Best 60' on MT slicks was 1.59...and pretty scary ride with 13psi cold. Put the DRs on and ran 1.57 and car felt much more stable with 16psi cold. This was on 275/50/15 replacing 26/10/15 slicks. Just thought I'd add my experience with them tonight to you guys.

1.57.. thats impressive for a stock rear.. How big of a difference did the 3.73's make?

Peace,
Josh

He switched from ET drags (slicks).

FWIW, I recently purchased some 275/40/17 ET street radials. My best 60ft time on 17 inch Nitto DR's was a 1.69 with excellent track prep and temps in the late 50's. The other day, I only managed two runs but my 60ft times were horrible. The track prep was great but I bogged. The ET's stuck a little too good for my setup, didn't have a chance to stall up my converter, just launched off idle (which usually spins a lot on the street, and a little at a well prepped track). Best 60ft was a 1.74 at 20psi. It was also 87 degrees out. On the street that same evening, little spinning from a dead stop. The Nitto's would spin all the way up until my car would shift to second.

They really do stick!

Josh the 3.73 didnt help as much as I had hoped. You trade acceleration for load on a turbo car so it works differently than a N/A or n20 car. I honestly think a 3.42 would be my best bet. I was very impressed with the DRs last night. I have yet to begin and play with pressures...MT site said 16psi for a 3000+ # car so I aired them up and let her rip. Once I get my brakes to hold more than 2500 rpms on the 2 step, I will see what they will hold.

I just ran my car this past Thursday night on MT drag radials for the first time. The best I did was a 1.72 60 ft. With some more practice I think I can do better. The only thing is, I'm still on my 10 bolt. I've got a Yank SS 4000 and 3:73's.

Think a 275/40/17 with MT radials would hook as nice as a 15 inch wheel ?

If where to drive them MTs on the street w/out any drag runs how many miles can be expected?

I am looking into getting some different rims for the track so that 15 inch rim looks nice.

I have the 255/50/16 MT radials on my car. My best 60' time is 1.64 with 22psi. I stall it to 3000 and smash it, it don't spin at all.

Good to hear another satisfied client of M/T radials. I'm still leaning towards a set for my next pair of street tires.

I've got 6800 miles on mine and they're at 50% tread left. They never did harden up and go away like the Nitto's did. They just keep on hooking. Mine's a DD BTW and I put 1000 miles a week on her.

There is that. I found that hitting standing water at over 70 is a bad idea with these, it makes for an interesting few seconds. Wet pavement isn't an issue. I guess it depends on the surface and the weight of the car.

I run the MT dr's 255/16 on my stock rims. They work really well, with my Vig3200 im consistantly 1.6's, best of 1.63. I found that 15-16 psi works for my set up. I also drive 80 each way to the track & the wear is better then I expected. 23psi for the street.
