Question about trap speed vs 60' How much does a 60' affect trap speed?
For instance... say you have a car that with a good driver on street tires can pull about 116mph with a 2.0 60'.
Take the same car.. throw some ET streets on it.. pull a 1.7 60'... how much would you expect trap speed to go down?
Ive personally noticed, in my SS, that with a lesser 60' around 1.9-2.0 I can pull 116-116.5 out of it. The one time I pulled a 1.88 60' my trap went to a low 115mph. Is this something that is expected?

The reason Im asking is cause a friend of mine has a 2002 ZO6.. with a 2.0 60' and street tires.. completely stock he pulled something like 115-116mph.
He put a drop in filter on it, ET streets, and had it tuned. Went back to the track and pulled pretty consistant 1.7 60's and with very consistant 11.80s ETs. His mph, however, stayed in the 116.5 and a 117.1 area.
Now.. thing is.. I can tell the local people on LS1/LT1 site are itching to call bullshit on his tune. Pointing out that "shouldnt a stock ZO6 pull that kind of MPH?".... thing is I know that 60' affects trap speed. Question for me is.. how much so?

Generally the harder a car 60fts the less it traps, but you also have to consider that going from a radial to a wrinkle wall ETstreet/Slick will also cause a drop in trap speeds due to tire growth.
i have always found the harder i hook, the better my trap speeds on slicks or et streets. i see it as a larger percentage of time accelerating = more speed on the big end. this is an auto combo.
also the power that the car makes could be more top end, like i dont have a convertor and some of my friends have the same 60 ft as me but they are only running 12.3, that is when my nitrous has an effect...... they are so many issues that it could be.

I went to the track once with street tires running 2.0, and then again running low 1.7's. The trap speed was virtually identical each time, and the three tenths I dropped in the 60' equated to exactly three tenths in the 1/4.
