Like John said - allow me to build an engine from scratch with all stock parts and I will drop the record a half second. Changing rings or bearings is not allowed for SI. If oil touches it, it must remain untouched. Simple rule, easy to follow, no arguments.

umm i got a pot of gold says you wont either... the guy that set the record now has a huge cam and stall and is goning 10.32 off 10.98... so if ur gonna magically go 2 tenths slower then his current setup with no cam lets see it!

I'd be more concerned with how it took a cam AND nitrous to get into the 11's then starting a load of posts defending a guy who claims a title he dosent have.

I doubt you will get 1/2 a second out of the short block alone in a 3000lb car. I can see 20-30hp max without lightening/knife edging the crank or rollerizing the cam bearings. You can back cut the rings, equalize lifter bores/cam lobes/stroke and rod length, narrowed bearings, drop oil pressure, polish down the front/rear main sealing surface and a few other little things like coatings and what not. Basic stock eliminator stuff mostly, I dont see anyone doing all that to cheat to be on the top of an internet list anyhow but I guess you never know.

In a few years when there is no newer 'stock' short blocks left I guess it will have to be changed to the 'stock internal rebuilt to OE spec' list

I say we should have a list for OEM SI and a list for aftermarket SI that way people would know the difference in SI .

That has to be one of the most unintelligent posts I have ever seen on ls1tech.com
How about everyone quit whining and follow the established rules. My car has 77,700 miles on it and probably needs new vlave springs and rod bolts. I am not going to get them untill I take a crack at getting on the top 50 NASI list though. Will I??? Maybe, maybe not. But I bet I am one of the 50 fastest NASI 6-speeds.

I'm not going for the SI record. I think there's more left in my car tho. Yes, I'm still running STOCK valvesprings. I'm shifting around the 6300-6400 thanks to Jeff Creech and his awesome tuning. Like JP mentioned, still running the LS1 intake, stock throttle body, and stock mass air sensor. I'm not after records, just having fun. I consider myself a honest guy and have shared all my info with et/mod data to the entire board. (do search) Just your average guy that loves to go faster. It's just amazing what these cars are capable of and getting the average "spectator" convinced that your not spraying a 150 shot to get these times is sometimes challenging! Have fun guy's and remember we're all on the same team! LaTeR!

A4. Still on the stock tranny. (crossing fingers that it holds up)

Raceweight is around the 3050 mark if I remember correctly. Its in a thread I posted back in March under -Stock Internal "both wheels up pics".

Argue as much as you want, you are arguing with five years of SI racing on here.

Most folks with cobbled together motors tend to be cavalier with what has been changed, and you can kind of tell based on what they say.
Anyone ever requested a teardown though to find the facts...HELL no....I stated it up front and I can bet 90% of the guys claiming to run SI times are legit. The other 10% have something up their sleeves...Its the nature of racing. Juan was honest and upfront just like he has always been with anyone including me.

Very Good point Juan but I guarantee you someone else will have a problem with that too...Its all BS. You will have the fastest and quickest SI car out there when the weather comes your way.

He was honest and upfront about his '98 cam and 241 casting ('01-'04) heads. That's not stock internals. You can't mix and match the best internal parts from the different years.

In my experience the guys who complain the loudest about rules are the ones most likely to bend them. Don't be such babies about a few basic rules. You don't make compelling arguments and like I said, we have been doing this awhile.
