The first part number says that it has forward and reverse pattern and the 2nd part number only says reverse, but also says aluminum case only. Whats that about?

Ask Madman. He had a quarterstick in his car, and switched to a pistol grip. Looked good.

If you run the Turbo Action shifter it is important that you have the right gate installed (forward/reverse). It only takes a tap to change gears and you will never miss a shift. You won't break the cable either. Theirs are much heavier than the ones supplied by Hurst, etc.

I used the Stock A4 shifter also. Just had to drill a whole in the center of the mounting bracket that bolts it to the tranny oil pan. 1st is where 2nd used to be.

I personally LOVE the looks of the Hurst pistol grip. Reminds me of a Pro Stock shifter. That's what's going to replace my Cheetah shifter when I get around to it.

Question.....why does everyone like the Cheetah so much? I think it's uglier than homemade soap and I'm not real fond of it's mechanism either. The gate jumped out of the housing on me at a race this year and was a PITA to get back in in a hurry before my next pass. Only nice thing about it is the console, but that'll get replaced with an overhead switch panel soon too.

Coach
I am using the same shifter. The Kwik shift II.

http://www.precisionperformance.com/kwik2.htm

Very nice shifter and less expensive than most. It is also very easy and inexpensive to retrofit for air shifting if you choose. Since PPP is local, Brad over there gave me a bitchin deal on the entire setup. (shifter, co2 solenoid, co2 regulator, bottle, cable, hose, mounts, button, etc. Under $500)

There are a bunch of cars at the local shop running this shifter and wouldn't use anything else.

Well I found another shifter...its the B&M Magnum Grip Pro Stick. I like this shifter as well. So its either than one or the Hurst Pistol Grip. Anyone have either one of these shifters? If so, please post pics. Thanks.

I dont recommend anything other than the Turbo action or the Precision for a 3 speed. There is no reason the do anything other than hit the shifter to make a gear.

Does anyone know if the 2 shifters I'm considering only allow you to shift one gear at a time?

Why would you want to shift more than one gear at a time?

You took it the wrong way, I was wanting to know so that it doesnt allow you to shift more than one gear at a time. I used a stock 4L60E shifter with my 200-4R and I could shift more than one gear at a time. I like the feature that only allows you to shift one gear at a time so that you dont overshift.

If the shifter is listed as "gated" than it will not allow you to shift more than one gear at a time. I believe the cheetah is a gated shifter. Not sure about the other one though.

I don't like ratchet-style shifters, because I have had them not go into 1st, and end up hitting neutral, when I thought I was going for third. Freaky thing, but it's happened.

With the pro ratchet, what do you do with the reverse lockout handle in the m6 console? Does it fit in the boot at well?
