not legal for NHRA/IHRA due to the removable key.

Due to the flimsy plastic taillight panel in our F-Bodies, this Push-Pull switch works extremely well and doesn't put any strain causing cracks in our body work. The heavy twist type switches tend to be too heavy to mount on our back panel without eventually tearing/cracking the body.

This one is from Moroso @ Jegs.

Moroso Push/Pull Battery Disconnect Kit
If your taillight panel is too lightweight to support a battery disconnect switch, here's the answer! Simply mount your switch inside the rear compartment (on the roll bar tubes, etc.) and exit the extension handle through your rear panel. Kit includes all brackets, swing arm, 18'' long aluminum tube link plus all bushings and fasteners.
Note: You still have to buy the actual switch and heavy gauge wiring. Also the sealed Moroso battery box is needed for NHRA rules when battery is inside the car.

Jegs sells a wiring kit. You need at least #1 gauge wire.

This 250 amp switch from Flaming River is a good one.

Then another return run of #4 wire back to the alternator. My wiring is run underneath the car. Lot of work and not cheap to put an Optima in the back of an F-body. Nice weight transfer though.

yep. I have the flaming river big switch & lever kit on my car. #1 wire for the main power source, #2 coming from the alternator.

You need to cut the alternator as well, just cutting the battery will not kill the engine in case of an emergency. That is why you would want to route it to the positive, I don't think it is possible to kill the alt. by disconnecting the ground ... the alt. body is ground and connected to the engine.

Yep has to be after the alternator but before the fuse block.

To test and make sure you have it right start the car and while it is running throw the kill switch. If the car stops you are good to go, if not you need to rewire.

no the kill switch has to be visable, cant be under the car like where you can just reach under the body panel, it has to be visable to where you can see it? correct?

Correct, it has to be visable and labeled. Pull/off, that kind of thing.
