60 Foot
Last night I ran my car at the track. I have a 99 Z28 A4. My mods are dumped exhaust, SFC, 1LE Panhard bar, Lid, and Nitto's. My best run was a 13.56 at a 104 mph. Now I think my problem lays in my 60 foot time which is like 2.20 to 2.30. I could not beat that. What could i do to make that better? Thank you.

well, this depends.... If you have nittos then i would say that you prolly aren't having a traction problem... Correct? If not then here is an idea for you. I myself ran my car at the track last night, and was able, even though the track was very slick, and i was running street tires to get a 2.12 60'. Try brake-torquing (left foot HARD on the brake, and engine to about 1500, and then just hit the gas and left off the brake at the 3rd yellow light. This is a good way to lessen your 60'. If you are having traction problems try hard tapping the gas, back out a bit and then punch it, that should help you out. Overall my night was a faliure do to the heat/humidity, and the fact that i have my 1-2 shift set too hard and it would fry the tires nearly every time it shifted into second at wot, therefore killing my time and trap. My best was a 14.19..... (sigh) but she's done better, and will again!

I put lower control arm relocation brackets on my car and my 60ft dropped from 2.2-2.3 to 1.9-2.0 on eagle gs-d3 245/50 tires. the weld in brackets are around 65 bucks and are a pretty cheap way to make the car hook way better.
my 1/8 mile went from 8.79 best to a 8.66 with no other changes. The 8.66 was on a track they just cleared the rain off of so it wasn't hooking that well at all compared to what it was doing on the way there on the street. I also only made 3 passes so I know the car can do better once I get some more experience with launching with those brackets on.

If he's hooking on a 2.3 then he's not getting to WOT fast enough. I cut consistant 2.0's on 275 goodyear eagles....not exactly a great hooking tire. That was with the stock converter on my '02 WS6. Street tires are easily capable of 1.9's with some practice, 2.0's shouldn't be a problem.
Make sure your car is lined up in the same rubber patch as some of the big slick cars....the extra rubber they leave will help you hook. Stall the car up to about 1000 rpm and roll into the gas on the 3rd yellow while releasing the brake, go WOT as quickly as you can without major spin. If you have a drag radial then i would suggest not stalling the stock converter, just mash the gas on the 3rd yellow and feather the throttle accordingly. Letting the converter flash will help get the car out of the hole quicker.
