Kill the gear AND tighten the convertor. Your car should be able to go in the high 1.3s. The MT likes to be hit hard BUT too much of the above and it will spin. Once it starts spinning it doesnt like to hook.

Madman, what do you think the maximum stall should be on the converter? The converter we have is a hughs 4000 stall. I do not think it should flash past 4200. I believe the converter will only foot break in the 3000-3200 range, according to a few others that have run the same converter.

I noticed in the rules that boost controlers and progressive systems are not allowed but it does not say timing computers can't be used. I don't think there is a way to use one on a stock LS1 computer but I would expect you competition with distributors to have them. With a Digital7 or other similar device they can custom taylor an advance curve to retard the timing of the line and still get big power to the end.
