lite weight hood

lite weight hood looking for a super lite weight clip on to replace my ss hood. having a hard time finding 1. any body got a solution? I'm installing a ram air that works.coming in behiind the grill and into an air box mounted to my air filter housing. removed the wiindshield washer reservoir, hood latch and bracing. cut the foam out of the way and opened the holes in the nose piece frame. thought it might help on the top end.
I did something similar with my car. Weight distribution went from 56% down to 53% for the front. The front end sits about a inch higher now. THe front end really comes up in 1st gear.
I had the front bumper supports removed when the hood was installed. He also installed the ram air through the 2 grills. I was surprised that I actually noticed a difference. It seems to work best in the first couple gears. At higher speeds I think theres too much airflow and the car runs lean.
Anyways, I got the stock vfn pin on hood. Its very light but flappy. I miss the solid feel of the stock hood.

My stock Z28 hood weighed in at 54 lbs. VFN weighed in at EXACTLY 10lbs before paint. I think their website has them weighing in a little more than mine was. Dropping 44lbs is ALOT!!!

for the ultimate get a CF VFN hood, you simple cant get any less weight and have a hood still, btw the flat would be the lightest. I have the VFN bolt on @ 18# pre painting for 2" cowl from stock 55#flat Z28. -37lbs = wheelie time!
I have yet to find a VFN hood that I really liked - I always liked the Ultra Hood design - and did put one on - but nothing in the VFN line. BUT with research I found mine hood on a pin-on through BOA-X. Similar to the Ultra but only 13-14 pounds (pin-on). AND it was a lot cheaper than VFN. Picture of the hood is in my signature. Very happy with the fit and looks.

I have a Glasstek 4" cowl. from lifting my stock hood off and putting this one on, it is defenitly lighter, but exactly how much I am not sure. a flat z28 style hood in fiberglass would probably be even lighter than mine. I am happy w/ the quaility of my glasstek.
