Default Is My Car Retarded?

I drive a 2000 Z28 M6 and I am having problems at the 1/8th mile...

The best run I can get out of her is a 9.0 in the 1/8th.
The only mods I have are exhaust and a lid, but my friend took his T/A out there stock and ran a 8.6. Then again his car was missing a front bumper and a hood so he had quite a bit in weight difference. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Is this normal for a stock LS1?

yes- your car is retarted.

j/k man. i think you need to give a little more information like 60ft. times and mph., is your friend stick or auto, if auto what gears , temperature when each car ran, same track or not, what tires both cars are running (goes along with 60 ft. times)...

btw what track lets you run without a hood?

It's in Kennedale, TX. They let him run. It was crazy. He is up there a lot so they let him run a few just for ***** and giggles. Both cars had 2.73 gears and same weather, but I don't remember any details besides the final times. In any case, is a 9 second 1/8th normal for a stock LS1?

It seems to be normal for me to run a 9.0 sec. 1/8th mile time w/ a miserable 2.2 sec. 60'. M6's ain't easy to launch like the autos.

No that doesn't seem normal to me at all. Stock times on the two LS1 cars I have had are as follows:
01 WS6 ran 8.72 1st time down the track. With lid/filter, HPPIII, and Flowmaster ran consistant 8.40s and one CRAZY 8.16 with a magical 1.75 60ft This was an A4 with 3.23s.
02 WS6 ran 8.46 and consistant 8.50s, 2.0 60fts, M6 stock 3.42s.

I have a friend with a 00 GT with bolt ons. I drove his car and with the right rear caliper sticking and a lot of extra weight from stereo **** I ran a 9.0 in shitty *** humid weather on a 90* day. That car would pull 8.80s easy now that the caliper is fixed, stereo equipment, bad weather, don't matter, it'll be there.

With that said I think 9.0s in the 1/8th is slow for a LS1 car. What are your 60fts? When my 01 auto was stock I could footbrake it and mash it WOT off the line and it would deadhook and go. I would imagine if there is any trackprep at all you can do the same with those 2.73s. A little more info needed to sort out the problem.
