Default HVAC Question

Okay i have the dash and the Air bags pulled and out of the car. There ia alot of crap back there behind the dash. I am pulling the HVAC in the morning. My question is, How much of this other stuff needs to go? If i am pulling the HVAC do the vents need to stay? There are a few other things i seen that could go, but i wanted to check here first to make sure. Thanks for any help or opinions on this... Thanks Jim

P.S Please dont turn this into a Air Bag debate. My car is a trailor queen that is caged with Harnesses and race seats.

rip out every thing!
the heater box, all the vents, even the back of the controles. the dash can just be a shell.
if you need a plate to cover the hole in the fire wall, let me know, i can make them out of white alum, it looks nice, and makes for real easy plug changes.

Everything? The vents on the back of the dash dont need to go back? PM me a price on that plate. I was just going to make a pattern and make one, but you might be able to save me some time and effort. Thanks Jim

Once that hvac comes out there will be NOTHING behind the actual shell of the dash besides wiring. I took out my radio and the AC controls under that and cut some aluminum, painted it black and bolted it in place to cover the holes. Where the radio was, I bought a switch panel form Jegs and thats where my switches for the linelock, shift light are and soon to be fuel, fans, etc.

i left my vents because it looks nice, but everything behind the dash will come out, and rip the rubber mat out also, thats good for like 20 pounds. alot of the wiring can be cut also.

Thanks you guys are awsome. Just when i thought i had pulled all the weight out that was there. The recommendation to pull the rubber mat came up. Thanks Noyzee for providing another hour of entertainment out of that job that already kicked my ***, but your right it did have another 20 lbs that came with it. I did manage to pull the entire HVAC with it still in one piece. Not sure what its worth but will post when i figure it out. Jim
