Default Going Ls1.. Looking for help!

Ive been into drag racing for sometime now.. and have always ran a Mustang up until now. About a yr ago, I sold the stang and got out of racing period. Now, its time for a comeback; and I have came to the conclusion that its cheaper and easier to go fast in an Ls1 car. I have some concerns..

The weight on these things is discusting.. what are we doing to fix that? I dont want a car with no interior, however AC would go, back seats, spare tire and other obvious things. What else is there? Id like to weigh no more than 3,400-3,500lbs with 200lb driver.

Another concern is the performance: How fast are these cars really? From what I can tell they are 11sec "capable" with boltons. Would would the following car run like:
-Automatic non T-top car wi/ mild to moderate weight reduction.
-Stall, 4.10's, slicks, minor suspension.
-Boltons (best of the best as far as parts goes) wi/ good edit tuning.
What are the odds of this setup hitting that 11sec mark?

I would quickly get bored with that setup and want more. My plans would be:
-Ls6 Heads/Cam
-Nitrous
What numbers could be expected from the upgraded heads/cam? I would have one of the best tune the car with edit on the dyno, tuning would be extreme. Also, what does the ls6 cam sound like? In other words will anyone know?

Most importantly.. how much does a under 100,000mile auto camaro wi NO opitions cost? Something clean and in good shape.

Thanks in advance for any input..

I think it's easier and cheaper to go fast in a mustang. Might look at some AFR heads.

11 seconds NA in an ls1 car is completely possible. I ran 11.65 with a 3250 raceweight, 228/232 cam, 3.73 gears and a 3000 stall converter.

I would think it would be cheaper to go faster in a mustang being that LS1 parts are very expensive, especially compared to sbc and bbc parts.

I think youll find that LS6 heads and cam is not what you want...there are much better heads and cams out there. 10 seconds is quite possible in a cam-only ls1, as well as a heads and cam ls1. adding nitrous or another power adder to that combo will do 9s no doubt. It all depends on what you want to spend. Spending 15-30k on mods is quite common. You have to do the suspension work too!!

I like the idea of the Ls6 setup due to the fact that it doesnt sound different from stock.

Its hard to believe that you can go faster for the money in a stang.. no "bolton" stang is going to touch 11's unless its a gutted out fox. Which, I dont like the looks of the fox stang therefore I had a 01. That thing didnt do much at all when it was bolt ons only.

Does anyone know:
1. What the car will cost? Resonable miles (under 100k, coupe car, no opitions, Z-28 instead of SS)
2. What the Ls6setup will cost?

I figure boltons/gears and a stall will run a good 5k by the time everything is done.

The more I think about it.. the more I believe I could be happy with the car boltons only + a shot for the occasional tight race/ track pass.
