Default tie down pts when towing

I am about to tow my car 1400 miles on an open trailer. I have a box full of tie down straps. what are the best ways of attaching a camaro to an open trailer?

I use the factory T bolt holes. There are 2 right behind the K-member. They hang down and are oval shaped. The other 2 are right in front of the LCA mount on the body. These are the holes that the car haulers use to ship the car from the factory to dealership.

For the front I use a medium size hook & hook into the 2 holes in the k member. For the back I hook onto the rear sway bar.

I wouldn't hook it to the sway bar, go under the sway bar and wrap around the axle being careful not to damage any brake lines. Sway bar is flimsy and is mounted on rubber. You don't want the chassis to move any while you are hauling it.

I can't go around the axle tube on my 01 without damaging a brake line. No place to hook onto at the LCA relocation brackets without scatching up my LCA's.

In the front I use the points as Madman describes. In the rear, I had some loops welded on the back of the lca brackets. Pic here http://j.cz28.com/rear.jpg Although you probably do not have time to get it done.... It does work well, and makes it easier to load/unload. In the past I have gone around the axle with a padded axle strap, with no problems.

I do it the same with the relo brackets and use the same front hook points.

Now that pic is just too perty. Looks great.

Make sure you criss cross the straps front and rear or the car could move from side to side.

Is there any problem with using two axle straps in the rear both wrapping around the bottom tube of my Spohn TA and then to each rear corner of the trailer? This is how I've done it so far and seems to work well.

I usually run my straps over the rear end, and use the front control arms

Thanks ! Criss cross is the only way to go. Just talk to anybody who has damage from the car moving to one side. Maybe not necessary, but to me it is.

Hmm, I just welded some clevis hooks to the underside of the frame in the back and use the k-member up front. I'm debating on adding a pair of hooks up where the frame rail stops though.
