Trans Am vs Formula hatch weight

Trans Am vs Formula hatch weight
Weighed both of them on the same scale today, both with no interior trim plastic. T/A hatch/wing = 88lbs, regular Firebird hatch = 74lbs.
I never cared for the look of the T/A wing and swapped to a formula hatch - loosing 14lbs isnt hard to take either

I would take off the ground effects but there is holes drilled all across the rocker panels where you can see them and the bottom of the front fenders also has holes. I wanted to make the whole thing into a formula, dont care much for the rear bumper either, until I realized there was al those holes

Couple people PM'd me for pics of what the regular firebird hatch looks like on a T/A. so i figured I'd just post a few. I honestly think it looks better then the T/A spoiler but thats just my opinion - either way it doesnt look horrible and 15lbs is 15lbs

The T/A hatch bolts to the spoiler but the formula/regular firebird hatch is all one piece so you have to swap the whole thing. Some firehawks (I think you have one) have a rear spolier that bolted on that was different then the T/A spoiler. Thats why the formula one is lighter, it is the same double layer as the t/a hatch but instead of bolting on a 20lb spoiler to the top, the top part is molded into a spoiler.

The T/A hatch is double layer just like the formula/firebird hatch so most of the weight difference is just the wing itself. I didnt do it for the weight, mostly because I didnt like the T/A wing but I'll take the weight too

People will think you have a fake WS6, but that's ok because they will try to race you and you will win I don't mind the Firebird wing. I have a 1997 Formula, and I don't mind it at all.

Man that wing looks familer for some reason. Looks good I just like the trans hatch better. My daughter said "that new thingy on the car makes it look awsome" Hey she's only 7. My wife didn't even notice I had it on.
For those of you wondering I switched hatches with him. I'm glad you like it.
