Default Fixed racing seats...ok for a DD?

Tried a search...didnt find much.

I just want your guys opinions here. Will it be worth buying the reclining racing seat over a fixed one? Is it a good idea for a daily driver you think...anyone that has a fixed one as a DD please let me know how you feel. thank you.

It all depends on what seat you go with and what the lay back is. My Forzas are fine dailey driving but I did shim the front of them to give them alittle lay back.

One thing I will tell you about he Forzas is the shoulders of the seats faded and started to turn brownish after one summer. Corbeau wanted nothing to do with helping me get them fixed. I'll never do business with the ******** again...

Well once you get the stock seats set to a comfortable position, how often do you change them, I would think it would be the same for a racing seat, do some work at the install getting the seat in a position that's good for you, then bolt it in and enjoy it.
That being said I'd probably go for a seat with more adjustment features, just in case someone else has to drive it one day (for whatever reason)

I have been researching fixed race seats vs. layback etc. I havent bought any yet, but I plan on finding the angle in which I have the seat reclined now, and try matching that to the best of my ability to what is on the market. I have noticed I dont want to shim the front too much, as it will put pressure on the underside of my legs causing them to be in pain after extended use. Would be nice too, if someone started mass producing a better quality, brakcetry for seats then the Jeg's universal.

I am gonna just bite the bullet and go fixed when my cage goes in. If you are gonna daily drive the car, then I guess myu first question is what are you changing to a racing seat for in the first place?

I currently daily drive mine (well not this week since I blew the trans but...) to work and cruising etc. I normally race it every single weekend. I logged over 600+ passes in the first 12 months of ownership. I dont do it for money, or trophies, although a couple times I did I do for the fun and competitiveness. I do plan on going the fixed aluminum kirkey or similar racing seat, I drive my car, no one else really does, nor do they need to. I daily drive it and race it for the right to say I do both. Its one thing for guys on this Island to go out one w/e a month for the local progas points (brackets) races, and run 10's or 11's and put it on a trailer. Its another animal I when I drive my car to work, leave, wash it, load it with tires, drive down to the track and race it then drive home many times turning in better ET's then a "race car" twice as loud etc... Recklass (Todd) knows exactly what I am talking about. Sometimes its the just the bragging rights or accomplishment, well for me at least. Does it cost more, yes, but again, goes to the personal satisfaction. Now I need to look up more pics of mounting, and different seats. Would be nice if I could go to a local speed shop and actually sit in some diff. seats, but not on the Rock.

Heres a pic of my seats. They are the Kirkey Pro drag seat. driver is 16" and pasenger is 17". I LOVE them i had them angled wrong at first and they were uncomtorable. But after i built a new light weight bracket that was ALOT lower and at the correct angle it fit like a glove. They make your back hurt for the first few days cause your used to slouching and they make you sit up right. Now they are MORE comfortable than the stock and i daily drive my car 90+ miles a day.

Oh and the fixed rigidness of the seat makes you 1000% feel more in tune with your car and everything it does.

13-14 lbs according to Kirkey's site...

When I got mine, I could toss it around and hold it with one finger... it is rediculously light...
I think the only way to get any lighter is to get one of their sprint car seats... Much more expensive and they are 'swiss-cheesed'

Or you could buy the drag seat and go to town with a hole saw!

yeah i saw that at kirkeys site but i did not believe it, they weight kinda too much for what they are..

If the Forzas REALLY weight only 19lbs i would not take the padding penalty of the kirkeys...

I would rather seat in a couch than in a metal bed... And the car will maintain that "street" look IMO.

I dont have a calibrated scale in my hand, lol...

But I can tell you it is a shitload lighter than the stock, even much lighter than a stock passenger with no power options...

And like I said before... It is much more comfortable than the stock leather...

A friend of mine has a Focus with Tenzo R seats in it(Pretty comfortable adjustable race seats) and he said "If I didnt have a focus, I would get rid of these seats for the kirkey's"
Everyone who has sat in my kirkey has been pleasantly surprised...
