Default how do you luanch an AUTO?

is there anyone out there that can tell me how to luanch my A4 98 camaro?? the only mods are intake, exhuast, and programmer. i have a traction control botton and when i race i have it off and i have the brake down and i rev the motor up to about 1500 rpm and then drop the brake and punch it but then my tires spin out of control and i cant grip! so i try with the tracion on, and it seems that power is cut from the wheel and then all of a sudden i get a big boost, but by then, ive already lost a good chunk of time. i bought new tires about 3 months ago and tried with the tracion off, and i had my best luanch, gripped the whole way.. but now the tires arent as fresh but are still in good condition and i cant grip!! and when i run it, i start out at 1st gear, then 2nd then into drive, it seems to pick up faster, or is it just me? my friend recommended me to race liek that, but ive also heard that its harsh on the transmission...sorry for all the quetions, im pretty new to this. ...oh yea, my best run yet... 13.7@108.2.. i definietly think its the luanch.

When my 'bird was basically stock like yours, I would leave at idle (left foot on brake/right foot on gas). That was with my stock 2.73 gears. If I ran the rpm up at all, the tires would easily spin. I don't shift through the gears at all. Let the car do it for you. Leave the traction control off. Having it on at the dragstrip is not doing you any favors.

Stand on the throttle, and let go of that little red button on top of my shifter.

go get cheap drag radials. hold brake, and rev car till the tires start to spin and then let off the gas a little. when it goes green stomp it. leave the shifter in D. and have tc off.

When you try to launch on radials, you can't usually mat the gas because the tires will spin. When I launch mine on street tires, I stall it to about 900-1000 rpm and roll into the throttle to not "shock" the tires all at once, and this usually works to the tune of 2.0 60 foot times (best of 2.00 with the mods listed below).

I launch mine in overdrive (per Colonel's advise a while back b/c I was hitting the 1-2 shift rpm rev chip every now and then when in drive, and it hasn't happened since), and I'd take TC off as well.

Sticky tires can make the launch technique much easier:

Burnout, stage, stall up, mat the gas.

Enjoy the launch and repeat until the 10-bolt gives...

i used to get it at like 1200rpms then mat it with 2.73's, 2.0 60fts but it did tend to spin on occasion, or bog on occasion.

Hmm...i have an idea...if you're spinning, don't give it so much gas. It's called feathering, you;ll get better 60' times.
