Default "Darting" on launch

I let a buddy take the car out this weekend to see how it would run (new best for the bolt on LT1 car, see sig for mods and times!).

He says it darts to the right on the launch. I have not seen the vids yet but even guys watching from the stands says it is moving around.

The alignment is like Madman suggested for the drag cars.
Front suspension is the BMR A-arms and QA1 shocks/springs (275#). and they were set pretty much at the 8 (4 from full tight). I dont think it was pulling the fronts but still have to confirm this.

Suggestions have been rear sway bar (drag) or stiffer rear shocks.

What would the suggestions be from this crowd?

I'm surprised Brian didn't have you put a sway bar on it in the first place, you need 1.

Ditto. The added airbag should prevent squat on the passenger side thus putting more added pressure on the tire. Should equal out the good traction the drivers side has. If it still goes right add more air in the airbag. -Mark

Wolfe swaybar! Congrats man, that thing is hauling for the stock rear bar. When I put the wolfe on my car, she went into the 1.5's.

Jerk the mufflers off that thing. I could barely hear it running Sat night..

Save your money on the sway bar unless your plans are for a huge HP increase in the future. There are a bunch of cars running 1.3's without one.

I am looking for an air bag to try first. If a buddy of mine does not have his I will have to purchase one, where is the best/cheapest place to get one?

I like the Spohn rear drag bar over an air bag the car leaves better. But it's $350 vs $40.

Do you have pix of this bar installed and where it has to be welded.

It uses bushings on the rearend. It's adjustable. The front attachments bolt in where the stock stuff would go. It's reccomended you spot weld the bars to the tub for added strength. I like that's it's not as permanent as other solutions.

I have gone 1.35 with mine, and Magnus has gone 1.29 with his.

Your posi might be bad, or you might have one tire lower psi-wise than the other.

By the way, Shon's car stops pulling to the right as it gets going. By the time I grab 3rd gear, its going straight. But right off the line, and through second, it wants to go right fairly hard.

Here is one vid of the car, it doesnt look like it is 'darting' like I thought, looks more like it is out of the groove, what do others think? (please save as)

I wouldn't really call it darting but it is definately going right and for a pretty good distance. I would do the airbag first. The rear of the car lifts a little which tells me that it's rebounding, thus the drivers side tire is pushing the car right. The drivers side will most always get more traction that the passenger. The nose lifts good ( I saw some daylight under the front tire ). Does it do it on both lanes? If the airbag doesn't fix it I'd put it on a lift and check the geometry of the rear end like measuring the length from the wheel to the wheel well to make sure both sides are the same. Your rear could be pointing to the one side. Or a CA bushing is shot. -Mark

LCAs are brand new. But did think since they were adjustable that measuring to be sure the rear was centered under the car was a good idea, what points are a good reference for this measure meant.

I was told the car went right on every pass except 1 (out of 8+).
The front shocks were on 8 (tight) and I was suprised it lifted them that far. sure wish there was a passenger side tape as well....

That's probably your problem. I would take the tires off and mesure from the center of the axle to the inside front of the wheel well then measure from the center of the axle to the rear of the wheel well. Then go to the other side and repeat. And also from the center of the axle to the top of the fender well. Use a level to make sure you are straight. -Mark

Just waiting on Jake to take the 4.33s out of his car and put up in mine. I hope over the winter this will be done, let me just say, it will be done over the winter, if it is those gears or new ones, it will have 4.33s and a spool by Feb/Mar.

We need to discuss the rear end swap, I am out of time.....I got 5 more days to work on the car after work in the next 3 weeks....
