Default Slow track times!!!

First off I would like to state that I am not trying to bash anyone or the LS1...
In the latest GM High Tech they have an article where they ran a stock LS1 SS camaro on stock rubber to a 12.9 in 90 degree heat. Now I look on the racing post and see guys with H/C cars running high 12's or even 13's! Why is there such a difference. I mean whats up. That is really strange to me and I cant get over this. I thought a head/cam car would go high 11's. I know there are variables involved but come on! Someone please enlighten me. Thanks.
P.S. The 12 second run came off a 4,000 RPM launch on stock tires!

Yeah, I can remember when they first printed that article. When I saw it reprinted in the latest issue, I just had to scratch my head. I'm thinking it was ringer.

you have some false logic, there are too many variables to consider. most stock cars cant run that time, then theres the driver, weight, everything.
theres some fallacy where you take one example and say that is the rule for everything, this is not the case.

edit- I remember reading Futral Motorsports has a cam only car that runs in the 10s or maybe 9s, I dont remember,
but why is that???

Ok. Like I had said there are some variables. But I would expect any cam/head car to run in the 12's atleast. I guess it is the "Driver Mod" that is the biggest variable. Just had to throw this out there though.

Altitude has to do with it too as well as track prep. I'm still trying to figure out how the hell you do a 4K launch on stock tires. I can't get past 2K rpm without it going up in smoke even feathering the clutch. I'm thinking the near full tank of gas helped keep the rear planted. My SLP 345HP car has done a best of 13.008 bone stock on stock Goodyear F1's with 32psi. I was hoping for 12's on street tires but it just isn't happening in the 75+ runs I have on the car.

Lots of heads and cam cars don't have the other things needed (12 bolt or 9") to run the times they have tha power to run. Mix that with a bad driver and you have a 13 sec heads and cam car.
