Default First Trip to Dragstrip??????????????

I went to the strip with zero experience, first time ever. I started out with fear and anxiety and ended up merely incompetent. Check my sig for my mods. It's really just a bolt on car. I ran on fully inflated street tires, BFG KDW.

I can't even remember the first run as it was over before it began. I ran 14.6 at 100 mhp. A few runs latter I was able to settle down and ran a best of 13.4 at 107 mph.

I missed gears, hit the rev limiter a few times and spun a bunch. Best 60 was 2.17. I lost traction between 1-2 and 2-3. Not a very good feeling.

Before the next trip to the track in the spring I plan on installing a line lock, some Nitto DRs and a shift light. Hopefully, the stock clutch will hold for a little while.

So, how bad is this for a newbie. I know the ET's aren't great, how is the mph. Thanks.

Not bad for the first time on street tires. You will definately love Nitto drag radials, especially with the 12 bolt and 4.11's

BTW You will get better responses in the Drag Racing Results section. This is a technical section for external engine modifications, etc..

I wasn't sure which forum I should post in. I figured since this was a bolt on car with only external mods, it might be of interest to folks in this forum.

For the mods (most of which seem to be handling and traction ones), your MPH is about what it should be. It matches up with your rwhp too.

If i can make a sugestion bypass the Nitto and get the Mickey Tomsphon Drag radials. I had both and the M/T are a much better tire. Good luck welcome the the 1320 club hope you stay with it.

Nice! Glad to see you're already making plans to return to the track next Spring. That tells me you enjoyed it! The more runs you make, the better you'll get in all of the many aspects of drag racing. Practice makes perfect!

That car should be a LOT quicker/faster with the engine and chassis mods. Stickies are a must after I picked up 3 tenths just from putting MT DR's on my car. I'm bone stock SLP 345HP car and have hit 109mph. Get the launch down better and shift better and you should be into the 12's on DR's easily.
