Default My launch problems

My car is a 1995 Trans Am convertible. Lt1, heads, cam. A4 with 2700 12in stall, and 3.73 gears.

Drag race mods include no front sway bar or brackets, fiberglass hood, SFC's, LCA's, LCA brackets, and v6 rear springs. Tires are 275/40/17 BFG KD. I never get wheelhop, just spin.

IF I try to launch at idle to WOT, my car just sits and spins forever.

Best 1/4 time was 13.0 @ 106. Best MPH was 107, and that was with same set up but stock cam? - Pcm for less tuned each time- car does seem faster with the new cc305 cam.

Ive cut a 1.9 60 twice, usualy cut a 2.0, and that is just rolling the car out and finaly going WOT at the end of 1st gear.

On video ive watched of my car launching, the front end of the car jumps up real quick, but the just comes back down. Could I be hitting the bumpstops?

What can I do for better times. I think my 1/4 times and MPH are pretty weak for my mods. On the street I have beaten C6 Vettes good, and I belive they run 12's. Since I dont go to WOT till the end of 2nd gear hurt my MPH?

Thanks for any help

You need a real tire (even a drag radial), that will be the biggest help.......

yea I know.... I have Chrome firehawk rims, I was thinking about getting nitto 315 drag radials. How u think thoes will do?

What about my MPH? Seems low? Is it because my car is heavy or that im not going WOT till the end of 1st?

And on how on video and I launch it, the front pops up, and comes right back down? I dont hear or feel the car hitting the bump stops, but could it be?

i think you should get a tire with some sidewall - i'd say just get some stock 16" rims with a m.t. drag radial or e.t. street for drag use.

if you have the money go with a 15" rim and a nice fat drag radial.

The drag radials will help, but not a whole lot, you will need a tire with some sidewall to really see a large gain........Your mph is low, but u need to make a pass at WOT the whole way and hook it before you can really judge the MPH

The reason the front is coming up and back down is simply because you are unloading the tires and spinning, put a tire on it and see what happens......

Get some drag tires and you will hook much better. I have seen cars pull the wheels in the street on drag radials.
