Tires 26's vs. 28's
First let me give you this, WS6, 6 speed car, Mcleod twin, 4.56's, heads, cam, and all the bolt on stuff. FULL weight, A/C, cruise, stereo, stock battery. I mean full weight plus cage.
I have tried both tires. But changed setups between tire changes. The 28's got me a lousey 1.58 60'. The 26's got me a 1.51 60'. But the 26's were with a different cam (larger) and the car runs completely different. The 28's were getting me a foot of air under both tires then bogged. The 26's are getting me 4-5 inches of air under the left front and not much of any bog. I'm going out for a new best this weekend and I know I made a change here between the two tire changes. Should I be running the 28's? I should also add the 28's are the "S" series for the stiffer sidewall stick shift application. The 26's are not. Thank you for any help.

chris, i am a big fan of the big tire. the 28S is ok for your application. IMO its more of a nitrous setup but still will work. it doesnt surprise me that she bogs b/c the sidewalls wont have that rebound effect as you dont make enough torque to really get them shocked.
what tire psi are you running on the 28? i would want to slightly haze the tires and not dead hook them. no reason you cant go 1.45-1.47 60' at kcir.
what is the shock settings at? QA1 i assume? besides, 4.56 and 26" tire = out of gear on the big end right?

26" tires 7500 RPM = 127 MPH. Should be good through the traps. Only looking for 125 mph. Shifting at 7500. The car sure pulled the wheels with the 28's. I've always noticed the 347 cid cars doing that with 28's and Rob had some 26's so I tried them. I've only made 3 passes with the 26's. I tried 15, 14, then 13 psi. At 13 the 60 got worse. Plus I got videos of it and the rim just about bounces off the pavement when I launch. If you have room on e-mail I could send you the vid. The car really seperates. I've got the lower control arm relocation bracket and had them in the lowest setting. I'm going to try one notch up and see how it does there.

I would try the 28's, but run them at a pretty high tire pressure, like 15lbs or more and just do a very light burnout.
maybe consider stepping up to more gear, too. 4.7X range would be good. the bogging sounds like a combination of too much traction and possbily not enough gear with that raceweight. any heads/cam full weight and then some F body is going to be difficult in the 60 foot, especially M6. if you want to stay that heavy you're just going to have to play with some things and find the right method.

John I sent you the vid.
Thanks for the replys. I know the car is heavy. But I hate to take it all apart. It's bad enough I put a cage in it. The car on has 4700 miles on it.

man just watched the vid chris. that tire is BOUNCIN up and down on the launch. suprised you arent breaking anything with that violent shock. definately are NOT planting the tires or keeping them planted.
there was a post not TOO long ago in here like this. the guys TA i believe it was on the launch bouncing the tire up and down liek crazy and not 60'ing well at all.
moving the LCA arm UP in the relocation bracket is going to move your instant center back. i dont think that is a good idea. you want that instant center as far back as you can get it right? atleast that is how i have always approched it.

Throw the 28s on and make them work, you may lose a few MPH but will 60 foot better. Those are some good gears for your set up, but you might need to install a bag, of tweak your suspension some more. My 26's look like the rim is going to hit the ground when i launch also.
