Default hooked up my shift light but its on constant

I hooked my shift light to the connector 10, ran the red wire to the fuse box and used the gauages slot and then grounded it under the dash. I programmed it and it is programmed right for the 4 cyl mode(as it flashes for times as it should). As a test I have it set for 1500rpms(flashes once with a pause and 5 more times as it should, showing its set for 1500 rpms) but when I crank the car or turn the key on the shiftlight is constant on. Any Ideas? BTW I have a 2001 A4 TA.

TIA
Dano

You programmed it? Yet it's on all the time with the key on, engine not running?

Not for sure what brand you have, I have an auto meter, make sure you did not get the wiring backwards (tach wire and power) and also try a different ground, my shift light will stay on constant if not grounded properly. I ran my ground back under the shifter, grounded directly to the body of the car. THere are some metal brackets under the dash that are not linked to other grounded metal they are just attached to firmer plastic. Hope this helps.
