I just purchased competition engineering 3way adjustable drag shocks for my 2001 z28 m6.

I was wondering who has these shocks, or has used them in the past?
What to you think about them?
what setting did you find to be best for drag, and for street use? (50/50, 60/40, 70/30)?

I didn't know they made some for our f-bodys. What was the price?

 

$85.00 a pair at speed inc.

 

Start them at 50/50 and work your way down if needs be. With 550rwhp my car was doing 1.4x 60' times at the 50/50 setting.

We had them set at 30/70 with about 400rwhp and the car would bog really bad off the line.

30/70 will be way too much for a heavy car, unless you've making 600+ rwhp. 30/70 is always WAY too loose for the street as well. You'll be dragging the *** end at every stop sign.

 

I run them at 60/40 or whatever the middle setting is. They work just fine and hard to beat for the $$.

i wish they made them for the front for 4th gen F-body's. whah! =( i'll probably be getting a pair of those too.

 

They only make the rear. Unfortunately they don't make a front.

Remember though, they aren't like the QA1 when all you have to do is turn a **** to adjust. You have to pull the whole shock out to adjust it.

 

my 97 is still squatting pretty bad with the stock rear deCarbons (which are probably worn out)... those who have tried the 50/50 setting, does the car still squat? i want to eliminate the squat as long as i can hook up... right now i'm running a best 60' of 1.68 in a basically stock LT1 with 4.10's and a Vigilante converter...

The harder the better. I run my hals at 10 out of 12.


I don't like those shocks to much. They are not ever the same side to side or from car to car. That is why you pay the money for the other shocks. Not to say they aren't good for the money but I am just into buying stuff one time and not having to upgrade later on. I couldn't afford Afcos or I would have gone that route.

damn they seem to be working for the price.

 

You only have to remove the bottem bolt. It only takes about 20 mins to change the setting.

Mine in the stang were at 40/60 btw.

 

got the same comp eng 3 way drag shocks. Bought them from someone on this board, said they were set up 70/30.........I put them on my vert (just read 70/30 = bad traction for heavy car) which is true only cutting 1.7s vice 1.6's with stock shocks.

My question is: How the hell you adjust them suckers???? Looked for a write up everywhere but havent found anything on it. Didn't come with instructions so any help you could give would be appreciated.

 

The instructions were on the box itself. You have to twist them. 50/50 setting for me also.

 

if i had the box itself and the instructions, I wouldn't be asking for DETAILED instructions.

 

remove the "bottom" of the shock off it's mount...fully compress the shock...turn the lower part of the shock, you will hear it clicking, there should be some aligning marks on the shock to show you which setting you are on, hope this helps.
PS if the marks are gone...the 50/50 setting is the middle "click"
