Default Aftermarket Steering wheel???

Has anyone swapped out steering wheels that had the radio controls in it with a cheap after market? is there a way to attack thumb switches the the wires from the stereo controls?

I looked at doing a couple of things like you suggest. My first thought was to keep the radio controls and the airbag. I was going to swap in a Pontiac Vibe steering wheel. The airbag was too costly. Then I decided I could get a cover and go without the airbag. The steering wheel was too pricey unless I could get one from a junker (no luck). I ended up with a Momo wheel with no airbag or radio controls. I missed them for about a week. It is possible to get a wheel with switches and you might be able to wire a couple of functions--but it didn't seem worth the trouble.
