If anyone has a BMR tray, the Taylor aluminum battery box measures 13 1/ 2 in. Length x 9 1/ 2 in. Width.

Anyone?!?!

You don't need the tray because you can mount the box in the spare tire well just fine without it.

Sealed batteries still produce gas if they are overcharged. The main reason for the box is to prevent the somewhat explosive gas from getting in the driver area and vent it to the outside. Even though sealed/gel batteries produce very small amounts of gas rules is rules.

There is also minimum mounting hardware requirements, they dont want that 30lb battery flying around the inside of the car and hitting you in the head if you crash - that would suck

I made this terminal block to make hooking bat. cables easier.
It bolts into stock bat. tray.

Not to bring this thread to far back from the dead but...

I to also ordered the BMR battery mount, then realized that the NHRA rules are not up with the times and dont discriminate between battery types.

My question is has anyone who IS using the battery tray found a battery box that fits in the tray? I havnt been able to. I plan on running a optima battery.

Or--

Has anyone using the tray with a dry cell not had any problems at Island or Englishtown? (couldnt hurt right?)

I have a BMR tray that I need to sell.. I went with a sealed aluminum battery box and mounted it in the ttop hole. Looks good and its easier to get to. The BMR tray is not big enough to hold the battery box from what I can remember. Its not much bigger than the battery itself and my battery box is ALOT bigger than the battery itself so I dont see that working out for you.

Yeah it is old, the only reason i posted in it was because it applied directly to my issue at hand. Did you ever find a box that fits in the BMR tray? Also what battery are you running..optima 34?

Thanks

Joe
