Mcleod Bellhousing???
I need to get a mcleod bellhousing...for safety(wife thing) and was wondering how many of your hard core M6's have them or don't have them and why if you don't?
Where's the best place to get one?
Thanks
i have one for saftey and regulation, launching at almost 7grand its a piece of mind knowing if the clutch comes appart i will maintain all body parts

It's not the bellhousing's fault that the back of the motor isn't a single plane (flat).
I suppose if you wanted to get fancy with a stamping machine, you could stamp the block plate with a dent to clear the back of the block down towards the oil pan. But it doesn't take too long to do (maybe an hour, tops, of grind / fit / grind). I did have to grind my starter a little also. The PITA for me was that I tried to use the allen headed bellhousing bolts included with the bellhousing. Bad move. They're SAE bolts... the block is metric threads. One helicoil kit later, and all is well.
I ended up buying some metric threaded M10x1.5 x 25mm (I think) allen head bolts from McMaster-Carr. I have extras (bought the minimum 25 pack), so if anyone needs some, PM me. You need allen head bolts because the bolt hole to bellhousing clearance is darn tight, a socket wouldn't fit well on a regular hex head bolt. The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
. So does anyone know the best place to buy?
Camaroholic I'll be in touch with you on the bolts.
Thanks again

Here's a couple links to "Fireballs" and my installs.

That's weird. Mine were the correct thread.
I would do the blanket but I would prefer to get my leg chopped off with a fast moving piece of metal
Seriously, do you realy think a blanket will stop a clutch blowing up?
Kind of like the the old bandaid on the gun shot wound.
Thanks

As for the bolts, yes, they do go in... but once I started to tighten them down, they pulled threads loose. At least that was the case for me - and then I compared them to the stock bolts - wrong thread. I ended up helicoiling 2 holes, and just cleaning the others with a tap. That was no fun (had to let the front K-member drop to get enough tilt on the motor to get the drill up in there). Just another day working on my car.

*how easy is pie anyway?

. You must have gotten the bolts I was supposed to recieve. Sorry about that
