McLeod SFI bellhousing installed...pics/info within
*edit*
uploaded pictures since my old server is no longer available
Where to start...
The bellhousing and plate come in at 36 lbs by my scale. OEM bellhousing comes in at ~6 lbs. Thats a 30 lb increase.
Here is a pic comparing the OEM and McLeod...
This is the reason I undertook this whole thing...SFI 6.1
Looking at the back of the engine...there is a protruded section of the oilpan directly under the crank...its that rectangular looking section....that needs to be sanded down so its at least flush with the bellhousing mounting surface on the engine. The LS1 is a f'ed up design that has alot of engine protrusion beyond the mounting flange. Since a steel plate has to go behind the flywheel (for SFI 6.1) this makes it alot of work.
Once this is ground down, the plate can go on...it needs to sit reasonably flush against all the bellhousing mounting surface...
Once the plate is on, the flywheel can go back on and the bellhousing can be installed...here is it only held in with 2 bolts...
once in, rotate the crank to make sure there is no flywheel-plate interference...mine worked nice. also you need to get some shorter bellhousing-to-block bolts...the OEM ones are way too long.
Lastly, the bleed line on the slave needs to be cut back...there isn't a bleed port on the bellhousing and the bleeder protrudes beyond the transmission mount surface.
McLeod does sell a flexible bleed line...but I didn't get it...I just cut mine back...I've never had to bleed from the slave...

Those are probably the cleanest looking headers I've ever seen on an F-body
On a more serious note, great shots and heads up! I guess with that extra 30lbs you atleast know you'll walk away from chattering a clutch

I'd have it in already...but after inspection, I found my Ram 910 disk was starting to show its age after 2 years of abuse
I'm going to get my FW resurfaced and order a new 910 and 402 PP.
then I can get it all bolted back together

How long did it take to get the Bell Housing from Mcleod?
My car is in the chassis shop right now. When it's done there I am building my tranny and it would be nice to get one of these about that time.

they list $450 from mcleod
but they sell them on their online catalog for 418.50
I'd check with any sponsor that sells mcleod and you may do even better
part number of the bellhousing is 8710-00

Bringing this back to life since I am trying to get this installed. A question for "Fireball". Do you know what the part number for the Mcleod relocation line is (I did not readily find it on their site) could it be 139210 ? and thought ot might be easier than moding it (I was not sure exactky what you were doing on this in the write up). Also you mention needing new shorter bellhousing-to-block bolts. I figure I need these before I start, any ideas of size.
Thanks

Don't quote me but I would be willing to bet the line he is talking about is just one from a Corvette slave cyl.
