Nitto DR's need a lot of heat to hook. When they are cold, they are probably worse than regular street tires on the street!

i'd say first step is sell the nittos. 2nd step is buy a mickey thompson drag radial or BFG drag radial.

i have ran that exact size 245/50/16 on my 91 z28 in a nitto DR. didnt' work for ****. i have ran a 275/40/17 on my SS in a nitto DR didn't work for ****. the BFG's work pretty well on the 17's and the new M/T drag radials that are out, i have now. they are best tire i have ever ran. prolly the best drag radial EVER period.

245/50-16 nittos here also, M6. 1.9 60' @ 20 psi. That was at OSW which has a bad reputation for being a not-so-well prepped track. Plus I also don't think I heated them up as much as I should have. Don't even think about spraying out of the hole with them though, I have to wait at least until I'm halfway through 2nd gear before spraying or its spin city (100 wet shot).

20 psi, 4000 stall, hotcam, good long burnout to heat them up managed one 1.7 and a handful of 1.8's at a track thats known to be a ice rink.

the big reason i want to go with the nittos is that they wont break my 10 bolt, i know i would try to leave hard on the m/t's and rip my 10 bolt right out

btw what did you run with that hotcam?

nittos are fine IF you heat the ***** out of them. if i remember correctly i pulled a few high 1.6's with them, but they were far more inconsistent than the mickeys i have now. the nitto's are hit or miss, they either dead hook or blow off and you just wasted a run.

i dont' think it is enough tire for the juice however.

im honestly more concerned right now about hooking on when the juice hits, alot of the time when it hits about 100 feet or so out it'll break the rear tires loose. i want to not worry about that, keeping the 10 bolt is main concern, hooking on the way out is next important

Get them hot and they hook very good. With basic bolt on's(lid, catback, Lt's) and a 3400 stall, easy launching I hit 1.7's all day long. I haven't been able to lay into it, since I am running the 10 bolt still. Before the nitto's traction was terrible and a best I could manage was mid 1.9's. I run them at 18psi on the track and 32 on the street..Made about 40 passes on them and drove them on the street for about 3k miles and look like I could go a summer going to the track every other weekend with them. I don't have any suspension mods except lower control arms and Bilstein shocks, when I get some relocation brackets I should hit 1.5-6's.

With stock stall and those Nittos you will be fine. Just like everyone says, heat the **** out of them. I had those tires for a while. Just like others say, hit or miss. Of course I have an M6 so it is easier to break them loose on a high RPM drop. Those tires lasted forever too. Now I have MT DRs. Hook like MFers but don't last for ****. See sig for 10 bolt times on mostly stock car with MT DRs.

What Exactly Does Heat The **** Out Of Them Mean ?? 10 Sec Burnout ? 20 Sec Burnout ? Ive Destroyed Mine Tring To Get Them To Hook And It Seems That They Hook Best With Just A Little Tiny Burnout Then Again I Can Only Cut 1.8 60's
