Got a great deal on a set of BFG drag radials 255/50-16. What is a good starting point for tire Psi, mods are in Sig.

Ive run as low as 12-15 at the track, low psi and big burnout was my recipe for hook.
My story: the 60 ft clocks were broke, but I launched my '91 with a 3000 stall on a 100 shot without so much as a chirp.

The BFG's are a little tricky -experiment a few psi at a time. I would start at 20 and work your way down.

12-14 psi....good burnout.....1.40 sixty foot times with a 3400lb 75 camaro...very limited bolt-ons. (stock suspension)...this was on a 295/60/15 M/T radial...no slip.

I ran mine at 25 and spun pretty bad after a decent burnout in my cammed 6. I'm gonna drop it down to 20 next time.
I would imagine you guys should be running at like 15...that would be my guess

Well It didn't go so well at the track...Didn't hook for nothing, started at 22 and went all the way down to 15. I am used to running with a 8" wide Pro Star with a 275/60-15 MT Drag Radial, but I wanted to go for the sleeper look so I got stock Z28 snowflake wheels with the BFGs I guess the loss in side wall wont let it hook, or either I am launching to aggressivly B/C I am so used to the MTs.

stock 2k wheels. did about an 8 second burnout, lots of smoke. i am happy with bgfs.

Default bfg

had the bfg i ran them at 18 -20 cold psi all the time but to get good traction on the track u have to treat them like a slick go threw the burnout box...

You got to really smoke the BFG's to make em hook. And a 26" tall 16" tire will not hook nearly as good as a 28" tall 15" tire!

IF you want the best hook with your 16" wheels, get the new M&H 275/55-16 DR's, 28" tall.

The 255/50-16's do hook good for me though.
